Real Love

Real love is when you walk into the bathroom in your underwear to take a shower….after being sick for three days…and your hubby looks at your makeup-less face, disheveled hair, and post-baby body and says…

“Hi there cutie!”

And he sincerely means it.

Trip to the Zoo

On Amber’s first trip to the zoo she:

“Moo-ed” at the Elephants

Sat on a rhinocerous

Screamed at a crazed squirel

Petted a monkey through the glass

Flirted with cute boys

Cuddled with a gorilla

Saw a baby giraffe
Ate Kettle Corn…

and a Dreamsicle

Got in touch with her inner elephant

Sat in an egg

Looked fabulous in a hat

Played on a drum

Did lots of running away

Had a wonderful day!

Like being a kid again…

As soon as I get home to visit I revert back into my teenage kid self.

The kid who didn’t have to clean house, buy groceries, cook meals, or help run a family.

The kid who had hours to read, play on the internet, or chat with friends.

The kid who gets to go out with her best friend to concerts.

The kid whose mom spoils her by doing things for her, even if she could really have done it herself.

The kid who was able to be completely ridiculous and hyper because that’s what kids do.

The kid who didn’t know what real cares and worries were.

Only this time, it’s better.

Because I’m not a kid, I’m actually a responsible mother and adult.

Because I realize just how easy that kid had it back then.

Because I can do things like being hyper out in public, getting in touch with my “inner-ness” and making my siblings do it too, and not care who sees or what they think about me.

Because I’m comfortable enough with myself that I can post pictures like this on the internet

and only hope that you’re laughing as hard as I am about it.

It’s just like being a kid again….only better!

Spreading the Love

Before I left for Wyoming I posted an entry about my latest addiction–giveaways!!! At that time I’d only won the Piggy Paint giveaway. We received that when I got home and I just had to show you how cute Amber little tooties look with it!

I also was SO excited!!!!!!!!! When I won the other giveaway that I had blogged about, then one for the 16×20 canvas print! I received it in the mail and it’s completely fabulous! Here’s a picture of it on my wall! Thanks to Orange Juice for hosting the great giveaway and to Uprinting for doing it!!! 😀 I chose this picture because it’s of Boulder Lake in Wyoming. We went here every year, many times two or three times a year, to camp. I have such wonderful, precious memories of it and it’s one of the few spots I went to growing up to that Bob has been to also. (my brother Ryan took it, he’s getting to be quite the talented photographer!)

Once I got home I was so happy to find out that I won one of these adorable little guys from the fabulous 1+1+1=1 blog! I’m saving it for Christmas to give to Amber 🙂

I also have recently discovered the wonderful world of LIVE giveaways–first comment wins! How much fun is that??!! I won a great votive from Prim and Purdy and some gorgeous jewelry from Creations by Crystal Rose. Heads Up for you! Crystal is hosting another live giveaway and sale this Friday at 11 a.m. (eastern time) head on over to her page, become a fan, and leave her a comment saying I sent you! (be sure to tell her before the giveaway, and you’ll need to RSVP for a chance to win another piece of jewelry)

I saved the best for that! Since I’ve been getting so many wonderful things I decided it was time to give back!! I’m having my very first giveaway and if you’re a Mom, you can go enter it here! Hurry because you only have till September 12th. You’ll find 13 other giveaways including mine so it’s definitely worth checking out!!! I’m also featured on the website (which is fabulous!) so be sure to go check out my feature on the Moms Like Me page 😀

Good luck and happy entering!

Friend Making Monday (a day late)

1. Do you cook every night?
Yepp, 99% of the time…if I’m sick or we’re shopping I don’t.

2. What kind of laundry detergent do you use & why?
All Free and Clear because it’s the only (cheap-er) detergent that doesn’t irritate Amber’s skin

3. Do you do laundry every day or loads at a time?
Loads at a time. Monday and Tuesday are laundry day, we don’t have enough to do it daily. (Rachel mine’s named Mt. Washmore 😉 )

4. How often do you eat out per week?
Me–none. I eat out about twice a month and that’s including fast food. Bob eats out 2-3 times a week for either breakfast or lunch. I only eat out (drive through) on grocery shopping nights and we do sit down for special occasions.

5. Where do you usually eat out?
Here Chick-fil-a, Burger King, or Arby’s….sit down here is Cubbies or Outback.

6. What is your favorite retail store?
Kohls 😀 😀 😀 I heart that place!

7. What’s your favorite thing to drink?
Water, Coffee, Pepsi, Smoothies

8. Do you take vitamins? What kind?
I took my prenatal while I was pregnant and nursing, but don’t take anything now

9. What percentage of the household chores to you do?
100% Since I stay at home I tell Bob that my JOB! He works enough all day.

10. Do your children do chores? {Or will they, did they, etc}
Well Amber’s only 18 months 🙂 but she does “help” with laundry, she takes the clothes out of the dryer and puts them in the basket and then puts the wet clothes in the dryer. She also tries to help dust 🙂

11. Do you go to church?
Of course! Every week unless we’re sick or Bob’s working and has to use my car 😀

12. Do you have a housework schedule?
Kinda sorta, trying to adjust the Flylady one to fit me but hasn’t quite happened yet…

13. Do you keep a working budget?
I was great at it and we had a fancy spreadsheet that I did faithfully until we moved and I got pregnant..and it hasn’t been touched since :S rreeeeaaallly need to start it up again!

14. What do you do at night as a family?
Eat dinner at the table, watch tv, and play on our respective laptops 🙂

15. How do you prepare yourself for a new week?
Go to bed and wake up on Monday 😉

16. What do your mornings look like?

Wow Rachel you make me feel like a slacker 😀 I prefer to sleep through the mornings…seriously! Bob recently made a comment that he’s pretty sure I’m a vampire since he swears he’s seen me hiss at the morning light–LOL!!!!!!

17. What time do you get up in the mornings?
I plead the 5th….I don’t even know anymore because I’ve been on vacation for a month and me and Amber have both been exhausted and trying to get back into a routine since. My ideal time to get up would be 8:45 a.m.18. What time do you go to bed at night? When I’m with my family between midnight and one, here between 10-11.

19. How do you manage all of the paperwork that floods into your household? {bills, school work, magazines, ads, etc}
I open everything as soon as I get it and throw away anything I don’t need. Bills are kept in a pretty box till they’re paid then I put them on a basket on the filing cabinet and when that’s full I file everything.

20. How do you keep your household organized? {calendars, charts, etc}
Sad as it is we don’t have enough going on to merit any way to keep it organized….haha!! I can’t ever decide if that’s a good thing or not!!!! 🙂
