Created to be His Helpmeet ~ Chapter 3

“All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast”
Proverbs 15:15
No doubt being thankful has been on the top of our minds this week. It’s easy to have it be that way when it’s Thanksgiving! I’m very happy to have these chapters on being thankful come after the holiday though. It is a good reminder to us that as we start the busy craziness that is Christmas, we need to continue to keep giving thanks on our minds continually.
You have a choice, every day, of whether you will be joyful or not. I’d like to share this brief thought on attitude that I think compliments this week’s chapter perfectly:

by: Charles Swindoll

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.
I completely agree, our attitude makes such a vast difference. You can be depressed that you don’t have money to buy Christmas gifts, that you can’t afford the nice things your friends have or that you have to scrimp and save to make ends meet. Or you can thank God  that your husband has a job, that you have a home to live in and food to eat. Even that is so much more than many people around  the world can claim!
This week, “practice, practice, practice” until you are perfect at  hitting those happy, thankful, joyful chords of music throughout the day, and stop fumbling on the keys of griping, woe-is-me, and discontent!!!
