Breyer’s YoCrunch Yogurt 100 *Review & Giveaway*

***This Giveaway is now CLOSED Congrats to Karen, itsme, kari, lilhuga2001, lilyk, sarabear3490, flychild7, rbailey1958, and Cheryl F who won***
At our house we are huge yogurt fans!!! All three of us love the stuff and I buy a ton nearly every time we go shopping. So when we were given the opportunity to review Breyer’s new YoCrunch yogurt I was super excited! Unfortunately, as big of a fan as I am of yogurt, I’m not a big fan of Oreos (I know–what’s wrong with me right? LoL!!!) The YoCrunch we received was the vanilla yogurt with chocolate cookie pieces. While most people would have probably been in seventh heaven eating this–it just didn’t appeal to me. (Have I ever mentioned how picky I am when it comes to food?) However, I’m the only odd ball in the family and Bob and Amber are both huge Oreo fans, haha. I was going to have Bob try it out but Amber asked for it 4 days in a row and before I knew it all the yogurt was gone! Because I’m such a food nazi when it comes to her (lol) she virtually never gets dessert and so when she saw she was actually getting cookies in her yogurt she was so excited!!!! I didn’t have to feel guilty about giving them to her either since it’s only 100 calories per container and sweetened naturally-which is a big deal since I would never want to give Amber something with artificial sweeteners in it!! YoCrunch comes in 3 other flavors as well and I would love to try the cheescake yogurt with graham cracker pieces and especially am planning on getting the strawberry yogurt with granola–Yumm!!!
Many of you will get the chance to try out whatever flavor you want to because-
10 Lucky Readers will receive a coupon for their own Free 4 Pack of Breyers YoCrunch Yogurt!!!

Week 27 & 28 Update

Into the third trimester already! I can hardly believe it!!!! This pregnancy has seemed to fly by! I guess that’s what happens when you’re super busy and trying to keep up with a 2 year old 🙂 I did the test for gest. diabetes last Friday and woo hoo to not having it 🙂 Also woo hoo for having no more nasty needle tests for the rest of the pregnancy! 🙂 I’m doing good, finally have been able to stop taking Zofran on a daily basis so that makes me very happy. I still feel icky on the days I don’t take it, but haven’t thrown up so yey! I’ve gained quite a bit more than I wanted/planned to at this point, but considering I went in to this pregnancy 12 lbs. lighter than I was when I had Amber I’m giving myself a little wiggle room 😉
Tyler is doing good, getting more and more wiggly with each day, although I haven’t felt any hiccups yet! He’s much more mellow than his big sister-who used to make me yelp in pain when she’d violently thrash around in my belly, so that has made me happy-haha!
Less than 3 months to go and my little boy will be here….so crazy to think about!!!!

aden + anais Baby Boy Blog Shower *Giveaway & Review*

***This Giveaway is now CLOSED congrats to Stacy who won***
So I know that my Baby Boy Blog Shower is actually ending this week for the most part, but after I initially put this up as just a review I was contacted by the company offering to do a giveaway as well–Yey for you!!! So consider this a little bonus perk that’s extending the party! 😀
When Amber was born and the nurses brought her to us all swaddled up I’ll never forget Bob calling her things like “taco baby” and “little burrito” lol! It was so cute to see her all snuggled up! It’s also amazing just how much newborns love swaddling and how it manages to make them calm down. I didn’t swaddle Amber as much as I would have liked to once we got home from the hospital because most of the blankets I had didn’t seem very condusive to it.
That’s why I was so excited to recieve Paparazzi Swaddle (how cute is that name?) from aden + anais! The blankets are made of 100% muslin cotton which makes them super soft but nice and light and breathable. Since Tyler is going to be born in the middle of July, it will be really important that he doesn’t get overheated! I know that these will be absolutely perfect to take care of that, and can’t wait to see how beyond adorable our next little “taco baby” will look all swaddled up and snug in these adorable prints!
aden + anais carries all sorts of other great items too like sleeping bags, burpy bibs, and towel sets. I’m looking forward to trying out more of their amazing products in the future!
One lucky reader will win their own 4 pack from the Classic Muslin Collection-your choice of print!

I can’t believe it’s already time for my blog shower to be wrapping up!!! Thanks so much to everyone who’s participated and there are still plenty of great giveaways that will be ending this week so enter, enter, enter while you still can!
Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that while I will be choosing and emailing the winners each day, I won’t be posting the results w/ the random.org images until the blog shower is complete, and then I’ll do it all in one big post. Keep your reader/inbox a little less cluttered that way! 🙂 I will be posting who won on the top of each giveaway once it ends, however, so if you’re really dying to know who won a certain giveaway before next Tuesday that’s where you can find out 🙂
Hope you all have been enjoying the shower! And good luck!

Deadly Disclosures by Julie Cave *Review*

As you know, I usually am all about Christian Romance! Variety is the spice of life, however, and so I was super excited to take a totally different direction when I read Deadly Disclosures!
This book did not disappoint! Filled with action, drama, suspense, and twists and turns it was an enjoyable read that kept me turning the pages to find out what would come next. If you enjoy any type of suspense books you will really enjoy this book! I appreciated the deep roots underlying the story. What happens to people when they lose those dearest to them and the conflict between Creation and Evolution. I especially enjoyed the latter aspect of the book since learning the truth about Creation and Evolution has always been a gripping subject that I found fascinating.
What I loved the most, however, was how clearly and concisely the Gospel was presented throughout the entire novel. So often Christian authors slap the term Christian on their books and then just gloss over everything and stick the words “God” or “prayer” in a few times to merit being called so. This is not one of those books and for that reason alone I would highly recommend it!
Thanks so much to the author, Julie Cave for contacting me about reviewing this book!

So pretty

After a crazy busy weekend Amber decided I needed to be pampered by getting my hair done. She worked very hard at it because, she told me, there were lots of “rats”! But she promised it wouldn’t “hurt more”.
As she smoothed my hair over my face she kept exclaiming “So pretty!” “So nice!”
As you can see–I was truly a knockout when she finished. Perhaps I have a future beautician on my hands?
P.S. Be sure to check out my CMBR Blog Post today! Would They Hear You Singing?

The Bridgegrooms by Allison Pitman *Review*

I’ve always been the kind of person who can usually guess what will happen at the end of a book or movie. With “chick flick” books (as I like to call them) it’s usually pretty easy to know who is going to end up with who, and you wouldn’t like it if it ended differently. One of the things I really, really love about Bridegrooms is that the entire book I had no idea how it would end, and really couldn’t decide how I wanted it to. The main character, Vada, is so conflicted that you as a reader feel the conflict right along with her! Of course it being historical fiction made it win big brownie points as well, along with the unique aspect of a family who’s mother had left. I love that it follows the story of each of the four girls in the family, and that each ends up with her own version of happily ever after. Another factor I really enjoyed was all the different kinds of forgiveness that were shown, and how it reflects the way God forgives us!

I really, really enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it to anyone! Happy reading!

Planet Earth Free Download!

I asbsolute love the Planet Earth series by BBC!!! When it first came out my husband and I made sure to tune in each week so we could see the new episode. The imagery throughout the entire series was gorgeous and breath taking! I also loved how they made it so interesting and you don’t even feel like you’re watching a typical boring documentary!
So I was super excited when BBC Earth contacted me to let me know I could download the Pole to Pole episode on iTunes for free! Even better, you can too! If you go here before 4/26 you can get your free episode!
Enjoy! 🙂

Earth Day Ideas ~ Using Bottle Caps!

So I’m not what you’d call a “liberal feminist tree hugging hippie”. In fact I’m pretty much at the other end of the spectrum, lol. People who put “the creation above the Creator” irritate me to no end. However I do not think that means anyone should adapt the attitude of “oh who cares” either! As Christians we are required to be good stewards of everything God has entrusted to us–and our Earth is a huge part of that!!! So while you’ll never find me yelling about drilling for oil or cutting down trees for paper-I do think everyone can do their part to “reduce, reuse, and recycle”. Little actions add up to big changes when everyone gets involved!

One of my favorite ways to do this started when I read the Cap Catcher Article by Shara. In it she talks about her friend Barbara and how she came up with the ingenious idea of using Bottle Caps (which cannot be recycled) in classrooms. I thought it was a great article and a wonderful idea so I immediately started “catching caps”. When I read her article Where Our Plastic Goes it made even more sense why collecting caps, plus recycling our other plastics, was so important!

Now the question was….what to do with them? Thankfully Shara didn’t leave me hanging there either! You can find great ideas for everyone to toddler to early learners to grade school children in these articles:
Bottle Cap Games for Kindergarten Readiness ~ planning on using all these ideas with Amber soon!!!

Personal Child Stories Book about Bottle Caps ~ Written for early learners and teaches about the “3 Rs” as well as gives ideas for using caps with toddlers/young children.

Bottle Cap Projects ~ Even more fun ideas!

I’ve come up with my own ideas as well! As you can see in the pictures so far I’ve just let Amber “free play” with the caps by giving her them, bottles, water, and a spoon. Although this might seem random even this kind of free play is teaching her many things!
  • Helps teach numbers-counting as she puts them in the jar
  • Colors–asking her what different colors the caps are
  • Fine Motor Skills–skill required to pick up the small caps and place them within the bottle
  • Early Science Learning–Hey look, when I put them on water they float!
  • Sensory Learning–wet, rough, smooth, good stuff!
On top of all that she loves playing with them!!! I mean, she seriously will sit there for 30+ minutes playing with them and asks if she can every single day–for a child who doesn’t spend that amount of time on anything else other than pictures this is amazing!!!! Plus the best part of it was ever single one of these “toys” was free and something I would have normally thrown away!
