Child Passenger Safety Week

Our littlest passengers are our most important! I will be going to get our seats checked this Saturday and encourage you to as well!!!!!! I can’t imagine how horrible I would feel if one of my kids got hurt in a crash because even though I had them in their seat it wasn’t installed correctly! Here’s some information and helpful links for you!
Each year, thousands of children are tragically injured and killed in automobile accidents. In fact, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 3 and older.

The reason? Most parents and caregivers don’t realize that their children aren’t properly restrained in their car. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that nearly 3 out of 4 car seats are not used correctly.

We’re aiming to change that with National Seat Check Saturday on September 25. As part of Child Passenger Safety Week (September 19-25), communities nationwide will have certified technicians available to provide hands-on child safety seat inspections and advice – for free!

Very important info! Thanks for getting the word out! I always want to signal to parents in the next lane at stop lights when I see the handle of the infant carrier/car seat upright (I refrain, though, because quite frankly I would be misunderstood and just look scary. Ahem). The handle needs to be lowered completely once the baby is in the car because in the event of a crash, the plastic handle can snap and potentially harm the baby.
