Funny World of Warcraft

aka Shameless Procrastination….

Sooo…at this very moment I have 3 hours of work I need to do before the end of today, about 14 reviews waiting to be written, a house that needs cleaned…but instead of that I bring you this blog post! 😉 Because sometimes we all need a healthy does of procrastination!

Do I have any closet nerds out there? I played WoW waaaaay back in the day when the highest level you could reach was 70 (seems ages ago) I got all the way up in the high 50s but then stopped. Hubby’s played on and off and on again since we got married and has three level 85s (though he just cancelled his account…again…haha) One of my besties got engaged on the game (for real) and her and her hubby have spent lots of time on it so I know she’ll appreciate this if she hasn’t already seen it. I think the fact me and the hubby found it *SO* hysterical just shows how inner-nerdy we really are!

The Red Shirt Guy:

The Original Video:

Red Shirt Guy’s Autotune (hubby loves it so much that he actually downloaded this from iTunes, haha)

Awesomness of Blizzard:

Blizzard has responded to the incident by not only fixing the addressed issue, but also by adding a non-player character named “Wildhammer Fact Checker” who happens to be wearing a familiar red tunic:

and THIS is my favorite and what me and hubby have been dying laughing over–but I had to share all the above info or it wouldn’t have made any sense/been funny. 🙂 It’s just awesome sauce! Hubby loves it so much he just downloaded the song from iTunes, bahaha.

All info found on Know Your Meme–I don’t endorse anything else on the site, just loved this thread 🙂

Not So Fat Winter Weight Off ~ Slacking

It’s amazing how once you get *out* of a routine it’s sooo hard to be good and jump back into exercising/eating right again!

The *good* news is that I lost 1.5 lbs Yey! So I’ve just got 6.5 lbs to go to my pre-baby weight. Since my goal is to still hit that by the time Tyler is 9 months old I should definitely be able to, especially if I can ever get my lazy bones in gear and stick to what I say I need to do! I know I’m getting lots of cardio(ish) exercise from hauling the kiddos around to all our various activities so I think I want to start really focusing on strength training/toning stuff. I’m doing the exact same thing I did with Amber and dropping all the weight through nursing so even though I’ve lost 28.5 lbs and am actually now at what is considered a “healthy” weight I still feel all jiggly and have love handles. Exactly what I said I didn’t want to have happen, haha! So time to focus on toning up and getting my body to look the way I want it along with continuing to drop the extra lbs!

Over on the Winter Weight Off post this week they’re talking about choosing light options. I’m all for choosing skim milk and things like that, but if I want ice cream you better believe I’m going for the real thing. I also avoid a lot of aritifical sweetners like aspartme since they have bad side effects like giving me a headache and research shows that they actually make you want and crave real sugar/sugary food more badly.

Goals for this week!
Workout 3 times-focusing on crunches/pushups/toning exercises
Nix the after dinner/mindless eating snacking habit

How are your goals coming and what’s your take on the “light” options?

Military Duty

There are so many challenges to being a military family and living the military lifestyle. Just one of these is having to pick from a list of places that you’ve never been to where you’d like to spend several years of your life living. That’s why online military resources are so important! Military Duty is one of these great resources! You can go on it and list information and resources on your current and previous bases. And of course you can look for information on the places you would like to go as well! They also have a great blog that covers a variety of military related information and resources!

Kid-E-Cover *Review*

Over the last couple of weeks Tyler has figured out how to put his tricks of front to back and back to front rolling together and now I have one mobile little baby! He goes *boop boop boop* and rolls clear across the room. Now that he can get pretty much anywhere it’s time for baby proofing round 2! Of course when you’re baby proofing one of the most important things you can do is cover your electrical outlets. Up until now we’ve bought the plastic ones that go directly into the outlets. These work great…until you actually need to use an outlet that is! Every time I needed to vaccumm I’d end up breaking out a butter knife to *pry* those puppies out. Talk about a pain! Yeesh! So I was excited to try out the a baby cover that I can still use? Score! It works great too! As you can see from the pictures it blends in nicely and all I have to do when I need to use the outlet is pull one of the little tabs to the side. It took hubby just a few minutes to install. I’m very pleased with it and would recommend it highly–especially for outlets that you use all the time! You can find out more about the Kid-E-Cover on the Elicole Website HERE or purchase one for yourself on Amazon HERE

Smart Mouth Mouthwash *Review*

Are you a mouthwash person? Hubby uses it on a daily basis but I usually only use it sporadically. He likes the kind that burns all the way down–yikes! He always says he enjoys the challenge of it (Hahaha!!!) I prefer a milder version but one that still feels like it’s doing the job. Smart Mouth was great for me because it does just that. It’s not ultra intense but it still leaves a feeling of minty freshness afterwords and during using it. I’m not sure how accurate the 12 hour claim is..since hubby is gone by the time I get up in the morning and I opted not to blow my breath on Amber first thing in the morning to see if it was still fresh. (That just seems like a cruel and unusual form of punishment to me, hehe!) I do like this mouth wash though and would recommend it!The fact you combine the two solutions is cool and makes it fun! Two Lovely Readers

So it might be silly but I always just LOVE it when one of my friends (real or online) wins one of my giveaways. As I try to show through posting these shots–I’m always totally honest and who wins is who wins–I never rig giveaways. However it just tickles me pink when one of my faithful readers gets the goodies! From Tracie is a total sweetheart (with an awesome blog to boot) and she won the giveaway for the business cards and itsme is one of my most faithful giveaway entering readers. (Those daily tweets pay off for her–I think this is the third giveaway she’s won over the past couple of months!)

Anyways–just wanted to give them a shout out and a special congrats!

Advice for First-Time Moms

On one of the *many* parenting sites I’m a member of/frequent one of the preggo gals was asking for veteran mom advice on labor and delivery and the best and worst baby items. I ended up with a looonnggg reply and so I thought, hey, I’ll turn this into a blog post 😉 So here ya go!

Labor and Delivery Advice:

Do your homework before letting them induce you! I blindly accepted them wanting to induce me when I was a week late with my first baby. They used Cervadil (which I later discovers greatly increases your chances of a c-section) I found out the hard way through 24 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and an emergency C-section. I *would* however recommend the epidural!!! My second little guy came SO fast (total opposite labors/deliveries!) that I ended up having no time for pain meds and holy cow did it hurt! (BUT I made it! So if you are thinking of going pain med free you definitely can do it…I did it and I had no plan or birth classes to do so, haha!)

Baby stuff!

BEST baby items:

Boppy Pillow (or the cheaper, better Wal*Mart generic version 😉 )
Aden + Anais swaddles
Bath Luve
Bouncy Chair (of any variety–we had a basic vibrating one that was a hand me down that work GREAT through both kids)
Aveeno Baby Line
Mam Pacifiers
Pack n Play (<--perfect to use instead of a bassinet and wonderful travel crib! We also got one with a diaper changing system-highly recommend that, once they outgrow it they're old enough to just change on the floor or bed anyways) WORST baby items:

complicated carriers/backpack systems (were given one and used it once I think)
Johnson & Johnson baby line (both my kids ended up having eczema and this made them break out REALLY badly. I’m sure it’s great if your baby doesn’t have skin problems, but Aveeno is great because it really IS super gentle!)

Items that are money wasters and can totally be skipped if you’re on a budget (or if you’re just smart and realize how expensive diapers and wipes are going to run you those first 2+ years)

wipe warmers
diaper changing tables
lots of accessories/decorations for the nursery that are theme specific (<--yes I know they're adorable but the baby honestly doesn't care!!! Also you can make your own/use other less expensive items for an adorable look that they won't outgrow by the time they're one)
Bassinets that are the fancy/cutesy kind and not the pack-n-play variety

Latest Greatest from other places

I just love how sweet Amber and Tyler are–they really, really love each other! I’m not looking forward to the day when they start fighting because they’re so super sweet right now! 🙂

Skin safety tips for you and your family

Skin safety tips for you and your family from Dr. Kavita Mariwalla, MD, Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC.
While you have spent the past couple of months bundled up in countless layers bearing the cold snowy weather, its only normal to start planning your next tropical winter vacation. Though it is time to kick back and relax, make sure you don’t let down your guard when it comes to your skin and skin health.  While a majority of a person’s sun exposure happens before the age of 18, a number of studies have shown that short-term exposure to unusually intense sunlight increases the risk of melanoma, an aggressive and potentially deadly form of skin cancer.
So while Aruba or St. Bart’s may be calling, remember to pack some vacation essentials and remember these tips suggested by Dr. Mariwalla:
–       A broad brimmed hat. Not only for you but for the beachcombing children you may be carrying with you.
–       Sunscreen. The closer to the equator you go, the higher the SPF should be.
–       Do NOT tan in the salon prior to vacation hoping that it will prevent you from getting a sunburn. Evidence shows that tanning in a tanning bed does not thicken the skin and therefore does not prevent sunburns
–       Protect those eyes! If you are going to be on the water, make sure to pack a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the UV rays that kick up off the water’s surface
–       Remember lips. Lip balm with SPF is essential whether you are going skiing or laying on the beach. Skin cancers and pre-cancers occur frequently in this region because it is a spot often forgotten about.
–       If you are going for a ski vacation remember that UV is stronger with increasing altitude and that white blanket of snow serves as a perfect reflector of the sun’s rays. Kiehl’s sells a freeze-proof sunscreen balm that will not only protect your skin from chapping but also contains SPF to protect it from the sun’s rays
–       Keep children under 6 months of age in tight-woven cotton clothing (You can test the tightness of the weave by holding the clothing up to the light. The more you can see through it, the looser the weave)
–       Children under 6 months should not have sunscreen applied to them. Best to keep them with a hat on and in the shade.
–       Pre-wash bathing suits in Rit Sunguard. This will confer an added SPF without the cost.
–       If you are jetsetting somewhere for a few days and taking carry on baggage only, don’t let the regulations of the TSA prevent you from carrying sunscreen. Bring sunscreen wipes! Available in a number of brands, these easy to carry wipes are safe to carry through airport security and not bulky. They are available for children as well.

This is not a sponsored post, I received nothing at all for posting it. Just thought you might enjoy the useful information-especially if you’re looking at as much snow as we are right now!
