Thirty Day Photo Challenge ~ Day 23

Day 23 – A picture of your favorite book
Well, of course my favorite book of all is the Bible 😉 but I figured I’d go for  my favorite non-divine books inastead!

I. Love. To. Read. If that wasn’t readily apparent by all my book reviews, haha. So I have a whole lot of favorites authors and even more favorite books. If I *had* to pick though I must say that the Anne of Green Gables series (and yes narrowing it down to 8 books is the best I can do) is my absolute favorite! As you can see I’ve read these over and over and OVER again throughout the years, and will continue to do so I’m sure! There’s is something about Anne and her life and personality that I relate to so completely and entirely on so many different levels. There is so much truth packed about life and love in these little stories. I adore them!

How I Keep My Family Happy

One of my main goals in life is to have a happy family! As the Mommy I feel that I am the pivotal person that keeps everything running smoothly and happiness abounding! Here are some of the ways that I keep my family smiling!

Most important in my family is the relationship between me and my hubby. I know from experience and many, many books that the best things I can do for the kids and myself is to have a wonderful relationship with their Daddy! We keep our spark alive after 9 years by making sure we have hang out time each night that he’s here. I try to keep the house tidy, laundry done, and good meals cooked because he works hard to provide for our family and I want him to know I appreciate that! When he’s away we send flirty messages back and forth and I try to constantly remind him how much he is missed and needed!

Amber is my happy little girl naturally, but I do all I can to keep her that way! Whether it’s a game of Candyland, playing dress up, or making sure I do her elaborate bedtime routine “just right” I make a point to go out of my way many times a day to put a smile on her face!

For Tyler he’s still at the age where all it takes to make him happy is a good game of peek-a-boo, blowing raspberries, or giving him tickles and smooches. I’m always more than happy to many sure to pack my days full of these! With both kids I think the fact that I can stay at home and spend so much time with them does a lot to keep them smiling!

You’ve heard the old adage—if Momma ain’t happy ain’t no body happy. It’s pretty much true! Days when I’m over tired, under stimulated, or just plain cranky put a damper on everyone’s day! I make sure this doesn’t happen by making sure to sneak plenty of “me time” into my days so that I can stay cheerful and refreshed, and in turn help the rest of my family to stay that way as well!

From dancing to music, to tickle wars, to snuggling up together with Netflix, my family is definitely a happy little bunch! I’m so happy there are so many simple things I can do that bring smiles to their faces!

Spring Cleaning! *Review & Giveaway*

Do you Spring Clean?  I normally just try to keep things pretty maintained year round but this year I’ve been getting the itch to do some big deep cleaning so that when we come back from staying with family I’ll be greeted by a sparkling clean place! Thanks to being a Bzz Agent I received a pack the other day with all this great stuff to help me! I’ve used most of it already! I *loved* the Glade candle! It smelt and burnt as nicely as all the higher end candles that I normally like to purchase–and the label comes right off so you can make everyone think you spent a bunch on it too! I’ve been in love with all of Scrubbing Bubbles products since my best friend recommend them to me, but had never tried their toilet cleaners before. I have been so super happy with the gel! It not only works incredibly well it makes the bathroom smell really good every single time you flush! I will definitely keep buying those in the future!
I have several high value coupons for Glade and Scrubbing Bubbles Products that range from 75 cents to $3 in value. If you’d like some just let me know and I’ll mail them to you! If I have more people ask than I have coupons for I’ll random.org to see who gets them! I’ll try to send you one of your choice, but will also random.org if some seem more popular than others! My only request is that you be following me somewhere, somehow for this! 🙂 I’ll pick who gets them 4/7.

The Mountains Bow Down by Sibella Giorello

I really enjoyed reading The Mountains Bow Down! It was another one of those books that I zipped through in a couple of days even though it is 369 pages long! It is a great murder mystery that keeps you guessing and turning the pages to find out what happens next. I love that they mention the Coast Guard in it 😀 though it was weird to hear them called “Coast Guardsmen” instead of Coasties 🙂 I also loved that it was set in Alaska, I’ve never been (but really, REALLY want to someday) but hubby spent a summer in the Ketchican area so it was fun reading about it. I enjoy Raleigh Harmon and all the complicated situations and messes she gets herself into. It was a very enjoyable read! Thanks to Litfuse for providing me with a copy to read!

Thirty Day Photo Challenge ~ Day 22

Day 22 – A picture of something you wish you were better at
I’ve always, *always* wished I had a gorgeous singing voice. I was always really jealous of my friend’s growing up who could sing solos in church for specials all the time. As mentioned a different day I think being a preforming singer would be my dream job…and of course you have to be able *to* sing in order to do that! Amber and Tyler love to hear me sing, however, and now I’ve gotten to the place where that’s good enough 🙂

Lilla Rose Flexi Hair Clip *Review & Giveaway*

***This giveaway is now CLOSED congrats to eclairre who won***

As a work at home mom I want to look and feel pretty but making that happen quickly and easily is super important! When it comes to my hair if a style takes more than 2 minutes to put together in the morning, it’s probably not going to happen! When Denise Martin approached me about doing a review of Lilla Rose I was super intrigued by their Flexi Hair Clip. It was super pretty and the website promised that it was super easy to use as well. My hair is super duper thick and so I was unsure that the clip would be able to contain all this hair! After watching the Sizing Videos found here I decided to go with the medium since the styles I wear most often are half up and pony-tails. I’m super happy with my clip! Above you can see how pretty it is in the half-up style and it actually holds all my hair in a ponytail too! I really love the ponytail look with it because it takes a 2 minute ponytail from looking like a work out/messy hairstyle to a sleek professional and pretty one. The only problem I had with it at all is one day I didn’t put enough hair in my half-up style and it slipped out but the next time I just gathered up more hair and had no problems and if have hair loss problem you can try a toupee hair system.. I really do love my clip and am planning on getting one of the tiny ones for Amber–she would look so adorable with a french twist and now I actually know how to do it!

You can find out more about Lilla Rose and the other great products they offer on Denise’s Website HERE, be sure to “Like” her on Facebook Here, and follow her on Twitter Here as well!

CSN 50 Piece Block Set by Wonderworld *Review*

As a child I remember one of me and my brother’s very favorite toys were our wooden blocks! We’d spend hours playing with them building towers, castles, houses, and more! I’ve been on the lookout for a good set for Amber for awhile now and so didn’t have a very hard time choosing what to review as soon as I saw this set! Overall I’m very pleased with it! The pieces are great quality and she’s had a lot of fun playing with them so far. The only thing I don’t like about the set is that to me 50 pieces sounds like a whole lot, but when they’re actually out they don’t look like that many. I will probably be buying at least one more set of wooden blocks so she has a bigger collection. I also felt that there were too many smaller pieces and that the pieces didn’t work well together for building things like towers and such. Overall I’m pleased with it, but will be on the lookout for another set with bigger pieces as well!

Thirty Day Photo Challenge ~ Day 21

Day 21 – A picture of something you wish you could forget
I believe that everything happens for a reason and that without all the experiences in my life I wouldn’t be who I am today. So I honestly wouldn’t want to forget anything in my life. I have to add, however, that I have been very, very blessed and never experienced any huge tragedies, sorrow, or hard times in my life up to this point. If I ever did/when I do I’m sure I would/will want to forget them rather than grow through the pain!

Purex Complete With Zout *Review & Giveaway*

***This giveaway is now CLOSED congrats to itsme & ky2here who won***

As I mentioned before both of my kiddos have eczema. This means that what kind of laundry detergent I use is extremely important because for the detergent I can only use free clear brands to ensure it won’t cause my babies to break out. Up until now I had a hard time because only a few brands offered free clear and it was normally pretty pricey. So I jumped up and down when I found out I would be able to review the Purex complete with Zout–Free Clear kind! A stain remover plus free clear???!!! Hurray! I just got done doing all my laundry with it (see it’s on the nice clean clothes above!) I’m super duper happy with it! I hadn’t noticed till *after* I washed the clothes that for stains it suggests that you can even use it to pre-treat them by rubbing it directly on, very cool! I will have to try that next time. With Tyler eating solids now all his clothes pretty much need the stain remover treatment! At only $3.49-$7.99 (my bottle is *big* too) I can say that I will most definitely be purchasing this to do my laundry from now on! If you don’t need to worry about babies with skin problems the detergent also comes in Fresh Morning Burst–which I’m sure smells awesome if it’s anything like the Purex Crystals!
Want to try it for yourself? You can go to FreeSamplePurex.com and prove it to yourself with a free sample!

Purex Complete Crystals *Review*

So have you gotten a chance to try these yet? As a Purex Insider I was one of the very first people who got to try them out, pretty cool! As many of you already know Amber has eczema which basically means that most of the time fabric softener is just out of the question. When we first moved back to NC she had a horrible, horrible outbreak which I eventually traced back to using liquid detergent at a friends house while we were waiting to get our washer and dryer back. It’s nasty stuff for babies with sensitive skin! So I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to use this kind for the same reason. I gave it a try though, (used a much smaller than normal amount when her and Tyler’s clothes were in there) and it didn’t cause her or Tyler to break out! Yey! I also used it to wash the loads w/o their clothes in it like our towels. I *loved* that it made my entire laundry room and kitchen area smell soooo good! I’ve never experienced that with any type of detergent or softener before! The fact you can throw it in at the beginning of the cycle is awesome as well since this apartment doesn’t have a fancy washer with a softener dispenser. I was super pleased with these so far and would definitely recommend them–I’ve heard many fellow friend’s and bloggers raving about them as well!

Here is some cool information that I found really interesting about the Crystals and so I thought you might as well! You can buy them at Wal*Mart or just about anywhere fabric softener is sold!

WHY IT’S DIFFERENT > SAFE FOR ALL LAUNDRY AND BETTER FOR FABRICS
Do ALL of your laundry—worry free! Purex Complete Crystals Softeners are safe for
all laundry and will not harm, wear down or discolor your fabrics like oil-based softeners.
Safe for all fabrics, including baby clothes, athletic wear, towels, and whites. Unlike other
softeners, Crystals WILL:
• Preserve the flame retardant benefits of your children’s clothes
• Retain your athletic wear’s wicking ability which draws sweat away from your body
• Maintain your towels’ built-in ability to absorb water
• Keep your white clothing from yellowing and graying vs. using traditional softeners
The product won’t harm your clothes and is safe and convenient for the entire family!
