Freschetta® Rally for Real Pizza

Like most Americans–I *love* pizza! Delivery is super pricey though, and many frozen pizza are blah and bad for you! According to Freschetta:

Frozen pizza shouldn’t simply taste better. It should be better. Freschetta®frozen pizzas are made with top-quality ingredients and taste-tested recipes, just to make sure your pizza will always deliver Fresch® flavor.

So they’re doing something about it and having fun with it at the same time! You can  Join Freschetta’s Rally for Real Pizza by submitting a photo to the Rally Mosaic on Facebook. Each week they will select 100 winners — to each receive 5 Freschetta® Pizzas. On March 30, they will also select 10 winners – who will each receive Freschetta® Pizza for a year! I bet whoever wins will have a lot of new friends–haha!

It’s great to know that I can pop a pizza in the oven on Friday night and it will taste delicious and be something I can feel good about feeding to my family all at the same time–getting it for free would be the best ever!

I occasionally receive compensation in the form of products for posts. However, the opinions I share are solely my own (because WHY would I lie about loving pizza????)

Valentine’s Day all month long

So you probably remember my post about what my sweet hubby gave me for Valentine’s Day (with a little help). The day after he came home with a bunch of titillating horror stories about what the rest of guys at work shared about their Valentine’s Day experiences. From guys who shelled out $150+ on flowers for new girlfriends to ones who paid for an expensive dinner to have the girlfriend pout and cause drama because she got that and chocolate–not flowers; to big fights between hubbies and wives to other guys who just kind of shrugged about how their day went….the list just went on and on. All the guys at work were shocked when he told them that he had made some fake flowers from things we had around the house, chocolate someone else sent, and then I cooked dinner–and I was perfectly happy and sweet about it all. One of the guys who had a particularly rough Valentine’s Day kept making Bob tell other guys how our Valentine’s day went–haha!

A few days later hubby walked in the door with these. He told me, “Since you won the best wife of the unit award….I figured you deserved a little something extra.” 🙂

Again–simple but so sweet! The carnations still look gorgeous and the strawberries were amazing–just as tasty as edible arrangements for a fraction of the price! Vicki Secret is my favorite spot for oils/lotions/perfume so he hit the nail on the head with that too!

The goodness continued when my lovely companies decided to gift me as well! I wasn’t expecting another Conscious Box so was delighted when they sent me a gift box for Valentines Day-how fun is that?!

Just like the other Conscious Boxes I received this one was chock full of goodies and packed with care. It has a little bit of everything from diaper rash cream to a nummo antioxidant packed chocolate bar and even a few “adult only” goodies in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. It was all perfectly geared towards me as a mom and wife! Having received 3 of their boxes now I can confidently say that if you’re a green product lover you will adore these boxes! They would also make sweet and fun gifts for that person who you don’t know what to get, as everything in them is consumable (no clutter gifts are the best!) and who doesn’t love trying new products?!

So you could say I had a little bit of Valentine’s Day spread through all month….and that is pretty sweet!

MedjetAssist a must while travelling- *Guest Post*

One of a world traveller’s biggest nightmares is getting sick or injured when travelling abroad. It actually happens more often than we realize.

According to international travel statistics 1 in 15 travellers will be injured, hospitalized or face serious health challenges when traveling abroad. The cost of medical evacuation from a foreign country into the United States can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. No wonder this is the stuff of nightmares. While travel insurance and platinum credit card offer some protection they often have restrictions on medical evacuations-MedjetAssist bridges that gap. If a MedjetAssist member gets hospitalized 150 miles from their home, and meets the transport criteria, MedjetAssist will arrange a transport to a hospital of their choice at no additional cost. There is absolutely no limit as to the cost of the transfer-they understand that you want to get home fast. When possible the travel is done always first class with a medical professional at their side. In an established emergency MedjetAssist can establish communication between the family and a local medical provider as well as the patient’s own doctors. Since communication abroad can be difficult MedjetAssist offers foreign language assistance and can relay messages to family, friends and colleagues 24 hours a day-toll free. Additionally if a MedjetAssist Elite or Plus member is hospitalized locally and requires transport to a specialized hospital more than 150 miles away, MedjetAssist can offer that service.

Traveling a peace of mind is the most important thing to pack-get it with MedjetAssist.

Bright Future International

In America in my comfy little apartment with my super packed schedule it’s so easy to just let the rest of the world fade in the back of my mind. It’s a great thing to get jolted back out of my own little reality often–and stories like this do exactly that!

“My life was in danger. The family that helped me chased me out of their house, and I slept on the street.” Ginet was just 14 years old when she was forced into fleeing Ethiopia, alone and pregnant.
Ginet’s story is similar to so many girls in Eastern Africa, who find themselves without support networks and extremely vulnerable to exploitation and abuse after losing their families and having to flee from conflict across the borders into Kenya. In fact, nearly 60% of the girls who enter Heshima Kenya’s programs have been raped, sexually assaulted, and forced into marriage.

Heshima Kenya is the first organization in Kenya dedicated to protecting and educating orphaned and separated refugee children and youth, with a special focus on supporting adolescent girls living in Nairobi. Heshima Kenya’s shelter, education, and community outreach programming, coupled with the refugee community, empower these girls and young women to live happy and healthy lives.
Ginet is now 17 years old and says,”From the time when I started staying in the Safe House, I have seen many changes in my life. At Heshima Kenya, I believe in my security and potential. Heshima Kenya gave me everything I needed: medical, food, clothes, education, and food and clothes for my baby. Before I didn’t believe in anything – now I believe in hope.”

Your support allows Heshima Kenya to continue providing critical shelter, protection, education, and opportunity to refugee girls like Ginet, empowering them to rebuild their lives, grow into leaders and believe in hope again.~  Taken from the Bright Future International Website

It brings tears to my eyes and makes me remember the need to reach out to others, both here in my own community and around the globe! Bright Future International has 3 different great programs around the world–the one above is just one of them! My mother’s heart just aches for all the children without the love and care that they need and deserve. It’s so wonderful that there are organizations out there making a difference!

I love that businesses and charities make it so simple to help these days–For every new ‘Like’  a $1 donation will be made to BFI! So be sure to go “Like” the Bright Future International Page today and read up on the other great programs they have then donate a little more to your favorite one if you can, every little bit helps and it will go towards a great organization! Even if you can’t please share the page on Facebook, Tweet it, and blog about it. Social Media is a powerful tool and we should utilize it more often in support of GREAT causes like this one! So let’s all get out there and help make a difference!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central for Bright Future International. A small donation to Bright Future International was made in my name from Mom Central as a thank-you for participating.

Take a Break *Guest Blog*

Just had to share this because I so relate! I’m a “bathtub reader” as well–it’s my most relaxing part of the day!! We have a huge garden tub and I fill it up with *hot* water & bubbles, and sit back and read all my review books. I recently just dropped one of them into the tub too, ack! Need to be more careful from now on!

Take a Break
By Linda Gilden

I held the dripping book by one corner. Water poured from between its pages. How could that have happened? Until this moment I had never even gotten a cover wet.

For years the bathtub has provided my favorite literary getaway. Preparation for bath time means gathering the essentials: a glass of cold water, one towel for drying, a small one for drying hands occasionally, a flashlight, eyeglasses (a fairly recent addition to the list), and a good book.

You may not be a bathtub reader but finding a daily time for yourself is important and reading enhances that special, individual time. Making the effort to have personal time each day has great benefits.
  1. Keeps you grounded. The best way to start every day is with a personal time of devotion. Making a connection with God when you first get up gives you a solid foundation for the day. This time may include Bible reading, your favorite devotional book, and a time of meditation and prayer.
  2. Recharges your “batteries.” We were not created to go and go and go. We need a break. Life is busy if not frantic for most of us and burnout lurks just around the corner. A few minutes away from the family, workplace, and the demands that go along with them gives you new strength, energy, and perspective to face your day.
  3.  Provides a time for enjoyment. Everyone needs to have a little fun every day. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. So relaxing with a good book, whether in the bathtub, under a tree, or wrapped in a blanket in the recliner gives me a few minutes of enjoyment and entertainment.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Stuffed Friends

Amber has gotten to the point where she sleeps with a stuffed animal every night. Right now her choice is a sweet little giraffe that she has named “honey”. It brings me back to my dolls and animal friends over the years. For years and years I slept with a Cabbage Patch Doll named Allison. She had red hair and was adorable. Then it was a Jaguar named Dae (tween/teen inside joke, haha!!!) I slept with him every night until I was dating Bob, when I switched to a German Shepard stuffed puppy dog he bought for Valentine’s day. He never got a name, well, because I was 17 at the time–haha!
I have each of these special “friends” with me still and it’s so sweet to see my “big girl” going down the same road.
The people at Build-a-Bear know that friends count–whether they be real or stuffed! They are celebrating their 15th birthday this year and have created over 100 million furry friends!
Did you have a extra special doll or stuffed animal growing up? What was their name/s?

By publishing this post, I was entered to win a gift card as part of a promotional offer from MomSelect and Build-A-Bear Workshop. All stuffed animals and opinions mentioned are my own.

Everything you want to remember–all in one place!

It used to be that whenever I wanted to remember something, whether it was a great recipe I came across, a fun hands on project for Amber, or a great blog post that I wanted to come back to, I had about two options. One I could bookmark it (which on a Mac looks awful and after you have more than 3 it’s hard to find anything) Or I could figure out a way to email the idea to myself. Once I did that it got stuck into one of my hundreds of folders in my inbox….likely never to be seen again!

Apparently I wasn’t the only one with these problems! I absolutely love that Social Media is transforming into a great tool to not only gather and keep track of things for myself, but also where I can find the best of the best from my friends and others!

clipix is a new site that let’s you take all those things and organize them into a clean, visible, and usable space. Some of it’s best features are the fact that you can control who sees which boards–whether it be just you, your friends, or the world!

Here is a shot of one of my clipboards–it shows a few of the books on my “must read” list!

For a little more information on clipix you can check out this Youtube video. Be sure to sign up for an account and see how you like it for youself!
