Venus & Olay Razor ~ Making Showertime a little easier

Once you enter the realm of mommyhood things that you always took for granted–like the ability to shower at least once a day!

I’ve always made sure that I make the time to take care of myself even after my kiddos were born though! I know that when I start to feel frumpy and run down everyone suffers! Even on the days when I don’t even leave the apartment I’m sure to squeeze in a shower and put on at least my foundation and mascara. It makes me feel so much more motivated!

As I tell my friends, I swear by early bedtimes for fitting showers and relaxing baths in. When I bathe at night I can be sure that I won’t get interrupted and can take a nice, long, relaxing hot shower–or a soothing bubble bath!

On the days I work out I want a shower in the middle of the day, and since I work out at home that means I have the kiddos running around. I usually put Tyler into his crib with a few books and safe toys and take a quick shower. I’ve always believed that it’s important for kiddos to learn how to entertain themselves–and that things like showers for mommy are important! I know several of my friends let their kiddos wander in and out while they’re in the shower–and that’s what I do/did with Amber a lot. Tyler is a whole different kettle of fish, however, and so I put him away for his own safety (haha!)

On days like this quick fixes and helps are always appreciated! And this is why I love the Venus & Olay Razor. Since the bars are built onto it you can just run it over your legs without even worrying about lathering up your loofa. Although I’m not crazy about the bars during a nice relaxing time (they are a bit hard to maneuver so I prefer my regular Venus then) I love this razor for my after workout showers! It even comes with a nifty little suction cup holder so the bars won’t stick to anything, and it makes it nice and handy to grab!

A big thanks to Influenster for helping make this mommy’s showertime that much easier!

Do you have any secrets for fitting that all important shower into your busy mommy day?

Are you "his wife" or "this kiddos mom"?

To Love, Honor, and Vacuum is quickly becoming one of my new favorite blogs. In fact–I was so impressed that I wrote her an email asking her if I could “pretty please with a cherry on top” review her new book. (This all while I’ve been turning down other book pitches because my stack to read it reaching precariously high on my dresser).

Today in her Wifey Wednesdays post she posed the question–are you a better wife or mother?

I think that her post hit several amazing points so be sure to go read it!

As I’ve mentioned before the only thing I ever wanted to *really* be when I grew up was a stay at home mom. I always knew that was what I had a heart and joy for. The day after I found out that I was pregnant with Amber (although we’d been married a little over 2 years at the time she was a surprise!) Hubby and I headed to the beach. We lay on the warm North Carolina beach, held hands, gazed up at the sky over the glistening waves and marveled at the fact that life, our child, was now growing within me. We were suddenly parents, a family! At just 21 and 22 years old the weight and wonder of this swelled and overcame us with joy and anxiety.

As we lay there hubby turned and looked at me and said, “I’m excited. So excited. I’m just a little sad though.”

“Why would you be sad????” I questioned.

“Because I’m no longer the number one in your heart.” He replied.

I looked and him long and hard in the eyes and told him, from my very heart, “No, NO. I already love this baby with all that is in me and an amazing, incredible love. But you will ALWAYS be the number one in my heart.”

If you notice my blog’s name–I have Coastie Wife as the name–and I chose that name after both my precious kiddos were born. Though I love and thrive on being a mommy I have always worked hard towards being first and fore most knows as HIS wife, not Amber and Tyler’s Mom.

It’s hard to be a wife first. When kiddos whine for attention and dishes pile and books to review stack, and emails flood it’s hard for me to take a few hours when I could be “accomplishing things” and instead sit and talk, flirt, and play World of Warcraft with hubby. But that’s exactly what I did a few days ago. Because when Tyler’s napping it’s important for me to tell Amber that when Daddy is home he wants Mommy to play with him, and I can play with her later. I want my kids to see us talking, laughing, sharing,  poking each other. I want them to be in marriages someday like ours–

Perfect? Absolutely not! Easy? You must be kidding! Disagreement free? Of course not.

But rich, wonderful, deep, sustaining, fun, and adventurous? Yes, for sure!

The Guardian Duke by Jamie Carie

After a day full of work, laundry, cleaning, kiddos, and all that goes into life as me there is no better way to unwind than curling up with a good book. My favorite me time stories are Christian historical fiction romances. I devoured read through The Guardian Duke in just 3 days. It was just what the Dr. ordered after a hard week of work and reading through many deep and thick non-fiction books lately.

PCS Moving Tips

It’s that time of year again! For many people Spring signifies the end of winter, the budding of new life, and putting away of coats. For many military families it means time to pack those coats up in boxes and haul them across the USA as PCS season begins! (permanent change of station for all my civilian readers!) Having done 4 PCS moves and 7 out of state locations within the past 7 years I feel like I’m some what qualified to give a few tips!

Slim & Trim Monday ~ Back on Track

So as you know last week I decided to employ a little desicion making rewarding….and the result was…..

I stepped on the scale today to see 135 (Woot woot!!)

Last week wasn’t perfect and there were a few days I didn’t get any “gems” but just the fact that each day I had the choice seemed to greatly help! What is even more encouraging is the fact that I wasn’t even all that “great” We ate out yesterday (fast food) and I even had chocolate almost every day last week, just in moderation and before 8.

This week I’m upping the anti just a little. I’ll continue to get a gem for each time I work out, but for the food I have to take a picture before I eat anything and no eating after 8 in order to get a gem each day. Hopefully this will be the little extra bump that will *finally* get me under the 135 mark!

How is your week going? What goals do you have and how are you reaching them?

Boogie Wipes & Saline Soothers

When I first heard of Boogie Wipes I have to admit I was very skeptical. I mean–why would I pay extra money for a tissue when I have both them and wipes at home? Christmas before last when I purchased a book from one of my friends she included a few Boogie Wipe samples with it. After trying them I was immediately hooked! Tyler is notorious for getting gunk aaalll over his face–and after this past year of which included a hospital stay and a few ER visits it seems like him have yucky gunk and boogers all over his face is very common place! It actually got to the point that Amber tells me, “Momma Tyler has a boogie wipe on him” whenever he had a booger–that’s how much I use these things!! Haha! They are super soft, smell super great, and make getting hardened on crusties off a cinch!

When I got chosen to be a Saline Ambassador I was thrilled! I talked up Boogie Wipes to everyone anyways–now I got to continue to do so and give out free ones to boot!

I just had a super fun playdate where several of my mom friends came over and I gave them goodie bags with boogie wipes in them. I didn’t want all of you to be left out so I’m hosting a fun giveaway too! One lucky reader will win the full sized products shown in the picture!

Saline Soothers are the “all grown up” version of boogie wipes. If you’ve ever had a raw nose from wiping it so much there should be no question as to why you’d want to buy them!
