Five Unique Baby Shower Gifts You’re Overlooking ~ Mama’s Emergency Kit
|Legalese Disclosure Nonsense: I was provided with a pack of BabyGanics Hand and Face wipes to clean off Tyler’s adorable yet always dirty face. All amazingly clever ideas, pictures, and messy babies are my own|
Today’s gift idea of giving a Mama’s Emergency Kit is super practical and super fun!! I had the most amazing MOPs group in Boston and they always had the most clever, practical crafts–this is one of the ones we made and it has come in handy *so* many times since then! It’s small enough to stick into your purse or leave in your car glove box.
I tried to find where they printed off this beyond cute insert for the baggy but couldn’t find it–you could easily make one for yourself using PicMonkey and free stock people or if I get enough interest I’ll create a new, downloadable one–so let me know if you’d like me to!
Suggested Items–The beauty of this is you can customize it for the mom you’re giving it to!:
- Clear Bag (I believe they said they picked a bunch of these zipper ones up at the Dollar store!)
- Cute Mama’s Emergency Kit Insert (see above)
- Mechanical Pencil or Pen
- Sticky Notes Mini Pad
- Baby Ganics Hand and Face Wipes (more on those below!)
- Laundry “To Go” Wipe
- Hand Sanitizer (Mommy Tip! If your child gets bit by ants applying hand sanitizer will make the sting go away!)
- Mints (or gum)
- Lady Products (because if you’re a new mom you’ve gotten out of the habit of carrying them around in your purse “just in case”)
- Cough Drops
- Hair Band
- Alchohol Wipes
More great ideas of things to include that I don’t have show/in my bag but that I want to/need to add:
- Pain medicine–adult & baby both
- List of Emergency Contact Numbers
- Antibiotic Cream for cuts
- Contact Case
- extra diaper or diaper bud
Making these is not only super fun it’s also a very inexpensive present as you can buy big packages of each of these items and then split it up into several different bags and then boom–you’re set for each shower you’re invited to for the entire year!
Want to take a guess what my favorite item in the bag has been lately? (Other than the bandaids–which I have used WAY too many of lately thanks to *both* kids falling and scraping up both knees–wide open bloody mess last week.)
Take one look at this picture and I bet your guess will narrow! It seems like no matter WHERE Tyler is if there is dirt he will go and rub his face in it! Ok–so I’ve never actually caught him literally rubbing his face in it but he is the messiest little kid I’ve ever met! My MIL constantly jokes that she’s never seen him with a clean face and I have to say it’s partly true!
Like Amber he has sensitive skin (though it’s never become full blown eczema, thankfully!!!) so I try to be very conscious about what I use on him-including wipes! When I heard about BabyGanic Hand and Face wipes I couldn’t wait to try them out because they are specially formulated with natural plant-based ingredients and are non-toxic. Unlike other leading brands in the industry, BabyGanics ensures that none of their wipes are made with chlorine, bleach, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, and at just $4.99-$7 they don’t come with the crazy-high price so many “green” products do. The cherry on top is that they can be purchased at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Amazon.com, Diapers.com and Vine.com.
I am SO impressed with these! They are super duper thick and soft and as you can see above they’re quilted for extra cleaning power!
I put them to the “Tyler test” to really check them out! (You guys know I only give you my honest opinions of the products I’m sent!!) Here is what it looked like post-scrub down–very dirty, but it didn’t rip at all!
