Declaration of Independence

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal

As a female I’m allowed to vote, allowed to go to college.

Across the ocean a woman my same age dares not even voice her opinion on politics, for fear of retribution–she’s not supposed to have an opinion. She has no education beyond the minimum, because she has no “need” for it.

that they are endowed by their Creator

I go to church each Sunday to worship my Creator, while loving the fact that others can worship whoever they see the Creator to be–freedom of religion is one of the greatest cornerstones of our country.

On the other side of the world people with my same belief meet in secret–fearing for their lives for simply owning a Bible.

with certain unalienable Rights

I work from home, have two children, and love to read and play on the computer.

In a distant place a mother of one worries because of the positive pregnancy test she just took–more than one child is not allowed. She cries as she goes to the job that was assigned to her–the one that she was forced to work because according to the government she “has no special talents”.

That among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Life–the freedom to wake and sleep when I choose, marry whom I desire, and raise my babies as I see fit.

Liberty–the ability to type these words without fear of their censorship or punishment because of them

Happiness–realizing how very, very, very blessed I am to live in this great, beautiful, amazing country.

Freedom isn’t Free — so don’t take it for granted!

Happy 4th of July!
