So, you all know that I am NOT a big breakfast person. The thought of a big, hearty meal like a breakfast burrito at the start of each day makes me wrinkle my nose. Give me my coffee and a yogurt and I’m good to go. The only problem is, I’m the ONLY person in our family who *doesn’t* like breakfast. And with the ratio of 3 to 1 pro breakfast I am continually on the search for quick breakfast ideas that will please my family without making me do a ton of work each morning.

The day I met hubby one of the things that impressed me the most about him was that even though I could tell he was attracted to me, he didn’t once try to ditch his little brother who was tagging along with him. Having a strong, loving tie to your family was something that meant the world to me and a quality I’d always been hoping to find in my future spouse! In addition to being super close to his younger brother, hubby has always had a great relationship with his Dad as well.

Through the years hubby has always kept his family ties strong even when he, his Dad, and his brother were spread far apart throughout the country because of the boy’s military service and their Dad’s job in welding inspection which keeps him continually on the road.

How To Set Up A Pest Free Recycling Center #shop

So for some reason lately I’ve gone into a wild and crazy reduce, re-use, recycle kick. I’m pretty sure Pinterest might be to blame.

So for Mother’s Day I asked hubby to set me up a recycling center and compost bin as my gift from him and the kiddos. I was already starting to collect the things to recycle, but since there was no official way to store or keep them yet it was beginning to look like our garage was a big assortment of random trash piles–not cool! Especially given the fact that one of the things East Texas is infamous for is its pest, rodents, critters, and insects. I knew that if I wanted to recycle I needed a step-up in how I was handling things that would encourage recycling as much as it would discourage pests!

Hubby and I have both always been “big dog people”. What I mean by this is that we like dogs a lot, and we also like the “bigger” variety. Neither one of us is much for the little, cutesy, yippee variety! So for us a big drawback of being in the Coast Guard and living in apartment and condos was that we could never own a big dog–so our pets were limited to fish.

The first weekend after Bob got out of the military and we moved to Texas we went puppy hunting! When we saw a little Husky Bob fell in love instantly and we ended up taking him home that day!

As you know, hubby is a full time college student using the GI Bill–which means right now we’re living on the BAH monthly allowance from that, and my income from working at home–so yeah, not exactly rolling in the dough right now 😉 So a few months ago when we were talking about how we could trim the budget a bit, hubby mentioned that our phone bill was a staggering $229.40 a month–yeah, SCARY!!!!!! Of course we both had smart phones and a big ol’ fat unlimited plan to go with them. The problem was that even with that big ol’ fat plan hubby still hated his phone and spent most of his time yelling at it–and one reason our bill was scary high was that he kept swapping out cell phones before he was eligible to upgrade.

Doctor Recommended Ways To Stay Healthy this Spring #shop

So as I alluded to in my last post–April was just a rough month health wise for the Elliott family! At the beginning of the month we all got “the fake flu” (which I thought was the real thing) which made Amber miss a week of school due to a fever. She got better for a few days, then super, super sick again–with a fever going up to 103. We took her in and she was diagnosed with a bacterial infection after having “the fake flu” (taking her in is how we found out that it wasn’t “the real thing”). Another week off of school and a round of antibiotics and she was as good as new!

Mom Seeks God by Julia Roller Book Review

It seems only appropriate that I’m writing this review about a week late. You see–last Monday (as in April 28th) I came down with THE flu–you know, not the bad cold, or the “oh I think that this might be the flu” bugs–but the read bon fida Influenza A. I know for sure because I thought that I might have a sinus infection again–so I went into the walk in clinic where they tested me, which is how I found out it was the “real deal”. I promptly “call in sick” (which is not an easy task to do when you work from home) and spent the rest of the week in a huge bundle of misery and pain either on the couch or in my bed.

You see–when you’re a Mom life in general can be a challenge–trying to seek God in the middle of all the utter chaos? Well some times it can feel nearly impossible!
