For everyone the end of August symbolizes the end of summer freedom, whether it’s wrapping up vacations from work or heading back into a school and regular routine for families. We’re getting into the Back to Busy groove ourselves, just a little reluctantly!! We’ve all enjoyed a much slower pace this summer, and tried to make the most of our extra sleep and days with lots of white space in the planner. Those days are rapidly drawing to a close, however, and so I’m shifting my brain back into schedule mode and making sure that we’re prepared for the busyness of September!
One of the most important things that’s essential to success but easy to forget as things start to get busy is making sure that your family starts of the day with breakfast! I love the idea of cooking up a meal every day for us to start the day, but to be completely honest I love us all getting that little bit of extra sleep even more! Because of this I’m always on the lookout for breakfast options that will be easy, delicious, and satisfying. Last weekend when we ran to Walmart to pick up some meals for the week a demo passing out Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups that proclaimed “Crunchy. Cool. Yum.” caught our eyes!
Our favorite easy breakfast options are yogurt and oatmeal so this fun, new way to enjoy them both at once with Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups was a big hit with everyone! Real Medleys is a delicious blend of yogurt and multi-grain granola with real fruit and crunchy nuts. You’ve never seen anything like this before–it’s the first shelf-stable mix of granola, fruit and yogurt – all in a convenient single serve cup!
After picking up the tasty Apple & Cinnamon and Raspberry & Pecan flavors in the ready to eat cereal aisle we headed home, where I started thinking about how I could make this fun product even more special for our first day of “Back to Busy”.
After a little bit of brainstorming I came up with the perfect plan! Since this product is so simple to use ( just add cold milk, stir, and eat!) I didn’t want to complicate it much, just dress it up a bit. I came up with 2 different plans for the delicious flavors we brought home, and I think they turned out perfectly! Here’s how you can recreate them for yourself!
Apple & Cinnamon
For this variety you’ll just be playing off the name! You’ll need the following:
- Fresh Apple
- Cinnamon & Sugar
- Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups Apple & Cinnamon Flavor
- Cold Milk
Food is always more fun to eat when it’s pretty (right?!) so to turn this delicious and easy option into a special breakfast it just takes a few easy steps!
First cut a circle slice out of a fresh apple
(Tip: cut the rest of the apple up into slices and save to dip into the Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups Apple & Cinnamon Flavor ! )
Next use a small pairing knife to cut out the middle of the slice, and create a design along the edges to resemble a flower. Save the little pieces you slice off for garnish. Sprinkle all the pieces in cinnamon and sugar and set aside (if not preparing for immediate use spray them with a lemon/water mixture before rolling in cinnamon and sugar so they don’t brown!)
Now it’s time to make the Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups Apple & Cinnamon Flavor!
This part is so simple, just add cold milk up to the line inside and stir!
Spoon the granola and yogurt blend into a ramekin and then top with your apple “flower” and pieces and fill the center with your choice of cinnamon or cinnamon-sugar.
Stir all together and enjoy!!!
The next flavor is for all my fellow berry lovers out there! Since it’s hard to beat or add to the amazing combo of Raspberry & Pecan I kept this one super simple!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Raspberry & Pecan
- Frozen Berries (I used a berry blend but any mix or single type would be a delicious garnish)
- Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups Raspberry & Pecan Flavor
- Cold Milk
First take a handful of frozen berries and chop them up roughly.
Now it’s time to get your Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups Raspberry & Pecan Flavor ready! (told you this one is super simple!) See the handy line inside??
So convenient–simply add your cold milk in and stir! Then spoon it into your ramekin, top with the chopped berries, and enjoy!
