Spring fever to clean, de-clutter, organize and recycle has kicked in full force and it’s all over social media and in conversations with friends. The bug has hit me, too, and I’ve been organizing, up-cycling, and prepping for the big move, which includes thinking ahead and planning for items that I know we’ll want and need since we’re about to expand into a much larger space! One thing that I’ve been looking for is new ways to display Amber and my jewelry collections. We have a beautiful display of bracelets, earrings, and necklaces between the two of us, but I’ve found that if it’s out of sight it’s out of mind and we rarely wear it, which is just sad! I was recently inspired by this awesome idea to make a jewelry stand using the Diet Coke “It’s Mine” Glass Bottles, and I decided to re-make the up-cycle using my own fun spin-offs and incorporating the super fun idea of using fairy lights that I saw in several different posts recently.
I recently have gotten the awesome job of being the Campaign Leader for all of the Diet Coke “It’s Mine” campaigns and when I got the chance to participate in this one I was so excited! I’ve already shown you how much I love the bottles on Instagram. After “ooohing” and “awwwwing” at these online when I spotted them in my local Walmart I was so excited I literally squealed out loud and embarrassed hubby pretty badly, I didn’t care, though, they’re THAT pretty!
Diet Coke loves their fans so much that they created these beautiful “It’s Mine” glass bottles just for them–the amazing thing is that although millions were made, no one is identical–just like all of us! There were so many gorgeous ones even in this display I had a really hard time narrowing it down to just four and spent forever picking them out! I finally decided, however, and then picked up the rest of the items I needed to create this super fun up-cycle!
Once you grab your very own “It’s Mine” glass bottle you can snap a creative shot and add it to the amazing Mosaic here–join in on the one of a kind fun!
Materials Needed:
- 3 Diet Coke “It’s Mine” Glass Bottles — I was able to find these, two were very similar, but unique, and one that had similar colors in a different pattern
- Aluminum Floral Wire — I was so lucky to be able to find this 3 pack with the exact colors I needed for my DIY
- Round Nose Pliers/Heavy Duty Scissors or Shears — for bending & cutting the wire
- Fairy Lights
- Pretty Beads (optional–you can hot glue these onto the wire for a little extra flare, but I ended up loving mine without them so they’re going to Amber’s jewelry making kit to be displayed as jewelry on the stand soon)
- Sand (or any heavy item that will hold the wire up & in place)
- Funnel
Step One: Find the Diet Coke lover in your life, and ask them to drink up all of it from your bottles. As you might already know, my Mom-in-Love drinks almost ONLY Diet Coke. All day, every day. She loves it sooooo much that last Christmas Bob’s brother got her a Diet Coke Christmas Ornament. So of course, we know who I went to for this important step! Once they’re done enjoying every drop it’s time to wash the bottles by hand and allow them to dry.
Step Two: Using a funnel, fill the bottles with sand or any substance that will give them some weight and allow you to put the wires into a position that they will hold.
Step Three: Twist your wires into fun, funky, and one of a kind shapes as unique and individual as these bottles are! I wanted to go for a wild and whimsical Fairy Garden look while also providing plenty of practical nooks, crannies, and twists for necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. So I did some wavy, some loopy, and some closed off. The floral wire was so pliable I was able to create all the shapes by hand and made these fun twists by wrapping it around my finger and then pulling it out and apart.
Step Four: Continue the steps above for all 3 different colors of wire. For my final color, I wanted to make special pieces, so I created these 3-dimensional roses. Here in the photo, I’m showing how to measure each wire before you’re cutting it so that your “flower arrangements” will be all varying heights. This is an important step because if they’re all the same not only will it not look as nice, you’ll have a lot of jewelry getting tangled up altogether.
Want to see step by step how I created the red roses for my bottles? Go watch my video here for a behind the scenes look at creating a tutorial for you all, and a step by step demonstration on how to recreate my roses. They’re my favorites and it’s just easier to watch something from start to finish sometimes!
Once you complete this step you’ll be ready to move the bottles to where they’ll be displayed for the next steps!
Step Five: Get your Fairy Lights arranged around the bottles. I just recently found out about these thin, LED battery-powered strands of epic awesomeness and I’m totally in love! Using them on this jewelry holder not only adds that extra touch of magic, it also lets it double as a night light which is perfect if you’re keeping it in a teen/tween bedroom or a bathroom, which are all places this would be completely cute in, by the way! Oh, who am I kidding, hubby and I have nightlights in our room, too!
Wrap the lights around the bottles starting from the left and moving from up to down, from down to up, and then back again for the 3rd bottle. With my length, I had just enough to tuck it back around and hide the battery pack behind the middle bottle. Once this step is done turn it on to make sure they work and look pretty!
Step Six: Now for the fun! Add all your pretty necklaces, bracelets, and earrings to your holder then stand back and admire! I couldn’t be happier with how this one turned out and Amber loves it too! Maybe I’ll need to make another one so we can each have one!
What would you use these beautiful bottles to inspire you to create? Be sure to take a photo of it when you do and upload it to the “It’s Mine” Mosaic!

Thank yooooouuuu! 😀 I’m kind of thinking this is what I want Amber’s whole room theme to be when we move–wild and fun and whimsical fairy garden 🙂
What a fun idea! I NEVER would have thought of this but it’s so cute!
I got all the ideas in bits and pieces, I probably wouldn’t have been able to dream it up alone, either!!
