The Scale, The Treadmill, and This Week

The Scale: This week I weighed in at 135.2 — so, up a little but I’m not sure if that’s because I’m running again regularly or if it’s because of how I ate this week…one thing that I *still* really need to do is start a food journal so that on weeks like this I can look back and pinpoint what might be going on!

The Treadmill: This past week I ran a mile twice in the evenings like my plan was–sure enough it’s working out great and I’ve been recording my best times ever! So I’m very excited about that!

This Week: is Spring Break and that means that we should be home a lot as most of our normal things are cancelled–both of the kiddos have colds, so I’m planning on a stay-at-home-and-get-some-work-done week! Also I’m going to use it to finally jump on the potty training train for Tyler–I’ve been putting it off thanks to some savvy boy-mom friends who advised me to definitely wait till he was at least 2 1/2 and really seemed interested.

The Discovery: I just recently discovered the wonder that is a Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug. It could be the best, or worst, thing to ever happen to me! Ok, ok, so that’s a bit dramatic. The wonderful thing about it is that I can now have a delicious fresh from the oven cookie taste anytime I want without inhaling five of them and then 5 the next day (portion control!) It’s also helping me be able to stop and think about my night sweets–is it really worth the calories? Or would I just rather wait a day or so and make a cookie to count for both days? Also since it’s homemade it’s automatically less junky just because I’m using fresh ingredients and avoiding all that nasty processed business.

Saturday ~ Chilli Tortilla Casserole (Family Recipe–coming soon!!!) Mexican Rice
Sunday ~ Chicken in Basil Sauce, Sweet Corn

Mamavation, Menu Plans, & Ionic Purifiers

I weighed in at 134.4 again this week–so not much to update on that front, however I do have a few things that’s I’m excited about sharing that have developed over this week!

My MIL snapped this pic of me this week-I love how I can see my progress in it, but it’s also a reminder that I’m not quite where I want to be yet!!!

During the middle of the week I was talking to hubby about how I was really having a hard time fitting running into my now jam packed schedule. He suggested that I start running in the evenings right after the kids go to bed (Amber’s down at 8 each night).

After bouncing the idea around in our Beautiful Babes FB group I decided to try it out! The great news is that it was definitely so much easier–AND I shaved an entire minute off of my time from 2 weeks ago! The bad news is that I didn’t run on Friday, because we ended up doing things that evening–so any evening we actually have something planned it will be harder to commit to running first! I’m planning on trying to do it Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week so we’ll see!

For the past few weeks I’ve been attending the Couponing for the Kingdom Bible Class taught by the lovely blogger behind Thrifty Texas Penny. It’s been a lot of fun and I love how much I’m learning!

This past week the lovely Miss Pary Moppins came and talked with us about menu planning. While I’ve always planned out meals before shopping I normally just make a list of meals and then randomly pick and choose what to have that morning. In the lesson we learned about using your menu plan to shop the sales and that way you’re not only organized-you’re saving big bucks! I’ve decided to start including my menu plan in my Mamavation posts since my meal plan definitely affects the weight on the scale!

This went perfectly along with a product that I was recently sent–the Oransi Fridge air purifier. It cleans the air in your refrigerator so that it smells fresh and keeps your food fresher. Our fridge is super tiny–especially for 6 people, but the purifier is super small and hasn’t been a bother at all! It’s silent but the little light blinks to let you know that it’s working! With 3 puppies a preschooler, and a toddler there are lots of interesting smell around the house-so it’s nice to have one less place to worry about them! It also makes me feel good to know that I don’t have to be throwing as much food away which saves money and makes us less wasteful!

Sunday ~ Drunk Chicken with mashed potatoes (made for the first time, so easy and tasty! Will definitely be making it lots from now on)
Monday ~ The Lady’s Chicken Noodle Soup    (with the leftovers from Sunday)
Tuesday ~ Chilli Tortilla Casserole (family recipe, coming soon!)
Wednesday ~ Pork Chops and Applesauce, Cheesy Shells (family recipe, coming soon!)
Thursday ~ Crockpot Lasagna
Friday ~ Chicken Parmesan 
Saturday ~ Salisbury Steak and Onion Potatoes
