|Tyler’s very extreme CHEEEEESE
With a 4 year old, and an “almost” 2 year old I feel as if I’ve moved past the Rookie Mom stage. That doesn’t keep me from making Rookie Mom Mistakes on occasion, however!
The latest one came during one of my husband’s most recent time underway. His computer sounding like a jet taking off each time he turned it on (he helped emphasize the point by pretending it was “launching” just before he left.) So being the sweet wife I am I took it in to the Apple Store for him before he got home. I figured if I showed up as soon as they opened they could get it in right away and I’d be on my way. Of course that day Tyler choose to wake up 2 hours earlier than normal, but I figured it would be ok. (I’ll give you a hint–that was my first mistake)
Fast forward to them telling me that it was appointment only but they could get me in after an hour. I figured I’d take the kids to the playplace and then come back for the appointment, even though I hadn’t packed any toys or snacks to keep Tyler happy with once returned (…are you getting the picture yet? If you’re a mom I’m sure you are)
15 minutes after my appointment is supposed to start I’m standing there holding my very active little toddler who is wondering *why* he can’t run around and push all the fun buttons on all the fun, very expensive Apple products. Que the screaming.
Then que me hastily cancelling appointment, rescheduling for that day (after naptime) and hauling two children out of the mall–only to haul them back a few hours later. (yes I made sure to bring toys and snacks that time and he was an angel)
So many times we make rookie mom mistakes and then wonder why our good natured kiddos have turned into little heathens! Taking a few minutes to play out the “what if” scenarios before you leave home–and bringing along things “just in case” are always a good idea!
I love products that help make life out and about a little easier and help me avoid these rookie mom mistakes!
One of these products is the Kidzikoo if you’ve ever dealt with a soured sippy cup full of hot milk then I don’t even need to explain why this product is in ingenious! It serves as a sippy cup insulator so that your kiddos can haul their water/juice/milk around with them all day and it will stay nice and cold!
Mompact is giving away a whole bunch of great products to help fix those rookie mom situations and mistakes! Created by moms, for moms you know that they came about from some of these same kinds of situations!
We’ve all heard about, seen it, or–gulp–been victims of it. The “letting yourself go” syndrome. Pre-kiddos keeping care of yourself and looking pretty is definitely a *whole* lots more easy!
And let’s be honest–when you know the only people who will see you all day are your 10 month old and your hubby….and the fact that you’ll probably be covered in some type of baby body fluid by the end of the day, there is not a whole lot of motivation to go and get all dolled up!
But studies have shown that when we look frumpy–we feel frumpy. I know that this is definitely true in my own life! When I feel like I look great–I usually feel great. When I’m dressed in nice clothes, have my hair done, earrings in, and perfume on I feel like I”m ready to tackle the day!
I totally understand wanting and needing to stay comfortable as a mom! Thankfully there are so many fashionable options these days that are also *far* from frumpy! Body Bark
is now one of my new favorite companies. I love the layered look but have always struggled with wearing uncomfortable, tight, itchy layering pieces
. I spend all day tugging at them, scratching them, and then eventually just taking it off and not wearing the outfit again.
Body Bark is some of the softest material I’ve ever worn! They use natural-fiber fabric derived from beech wood and it is amazing! Their pieces can be worn alone (I’m modeling the top I was sent in these picures) but since they are so feathery thin they can easily be worn under anything without wearing bulk.
I love wearing tank tops and usually sport them all summer. I hate the fact that my bra straps always slip and slide and then I’m stuck with the same problem as under pieces–spending all day focusing on tugging and pulling–which not only is annoying–it’s also not attractive! Strap Tamers have come up with a simple and great solution where you pin their clip to the inside seam of your shirt and slide your bra strap into it. I’m wearing them in the pictures above and they’re doing their job perfectly–you can’t see them OR my bra straps!
By finding great pieces and simple fixes you can be a mom, be comfortable AND still look and feel great! And that is definitely an amazing thing!
Both of these amazing products were made by moms, for moms–and you can win them (and other great products!) in this Mompact

Amber has always loved brushing her teeth. The problem is that when you’re 3 your attention span isn’t all that long, and after I do a good pass, and then she does a pass she’s ready to be done. This usually takes us about 30 seconds total–that makes sense because according to the Twoothtimer website:
Experts recommend brushing your teeth for two minutes. A recent study found young adults spent less than 35 seconds brushing their teeth.
The Twoothtimer is super easy & super cute! Shaped like a tooth you just give it a twist and brush until the tooth buzzes!
Amber loved it and thought that brushing to it was super fun. The buzzer made her laugh.
Aside from making brushing teeth fun for kids I’ve recently come up with another great idea for the Twoothtimer! As you know I’m on a slim & trim quest right now. Several of the girls in my Facebook accountability & encouragement group have been saying that they do squats while they brush their teeth to fit in a little extra training into their day–now 35 seconds worth of squats probably wouldn’t be too great but 2 minutes? Perfect! Not only am I brushing my teeth for the right amount of time it’s a super easy way to fit in some more exercise into my busy mom schedule!
Here is my review of the i Like Book–I felt that it would be more fun if I could actually “show” it to you all! Be sure to join the in GREAT Mompact giveaway–they’re giving away both an i Like Book and Zatswho Flash Cards (LOVE those and will be posting a review about them soon as well)
