Creating a photography website that stands out!

Every photographer should have a professionally designed website to promote his or her business. Photography is a purely visual art form and a customer’s first impression of the photographer will form within seconds of viewing the website. Great testimonials from previous clients will not count for much if the photographer’s portfolio is short of exceptional.

How to Rock Printed Denim from Winter to Spring #ThisisStyle #shop

Photography is a very competitive market. The introduction of cheap, high quality digital SLR cameras and photo editing software means that with a little training and practice anybody can take a good photograph and print it out on their inkjet printer. However, those seeking a really professional product shop around for photographers online, mainly because they can immediately view a portfolio. Gone are the days when a customer would sit in the reception area of a photographic studio and flick through albums of color prints while the photographer promoted his services. Most customers do their research online and make their decision before making the first call.

Feel Good Wednesdays

Feel Good Wednesdays
Legalese Nonsense: Since everyone likes to celebrate Hump Day I was happy to bring you this fun post sponsored by Ozarka® Brand Sparkling Natural Spring Waters! All beautiful pictures, dance parties, and Hump Day plans are my own!

Happy Wednesday! One thing that I love about holidays is that “Hump Day” comes so quickly–like this week, hurray!!

Before this year we were busy but nothing like we are now as a family! I haven’t been so happy about Hump Day since I was working an office job–way back as a newlywed in DC! Now with both Amber & hubby in school and me working 25 hours a week and doing preschool with Tyler, my weekdays are JAM packed! I keep the weekends free (ok…well Saturday free) but to keep my sanity I usually need a pick me up mid-week as well!

Fotor ~ Free Online Photo Editor

Fotor ~ Free Online Photo Editor
Legalese Nonsense: I love editing pictures so when I got the chance to be compensated to tell you about a great editor–that you can use for FREE–well how could I say no? All mad editing skills, careful assessment, and adorable dressed up girls are my own.

Fotor ~ Free Online Photo Editor

It should come as no surprise that I love editing pictures–just take a look around this blog! Although I use professional grade editing software I know that 95% off my readers have no want to ever plunk down a huge chunk of money and then spend years learning how to run the pro-editing software (like I did)! And really there is no need that you ever should if all you’d like to do is enhance your family snapshots for online sharing–especially not when there are so many amazing Free Online Editors these days!

I recently heard about Fotor and spent the afternoon checking it out. Being that I am used to “the real thing” I’m normally a little skeptical when it comes to free editors. I’m happy to report, however, that Fotor really is great! You don’t have to sign up for an account–you can jump right into editing. In addition to all the usual musts — tweaking saturation, brightness, contrast, etc. Fotor also has several different Photo Effects that are fun and easy to use! As someone who loves using Photo Effects I loved seeing how many options there were–and that you could even adjust the amount of the effect which is a huge must! They also have several different fun Photo Collage options — including the one I have above, how cute is it? They have the traditional kind with the different blocks, but they also have  ones with shapes, or you can make your own scrapbook style using their backgrounds like I did above!

If you’re looking for a fun, easy, user friendly way to edit your pictures–I’d highly recommend Fotor!

This week I’m continuing my series of Things to Do In East Texas. This week we are staying right in my hometown of Tyler, TX! A few weeks ago at the end of the Azalea Trail (more to come on that next week) we decided  to go see a little of downtown Tyler and our first stop was The Goodman-LeGrand House and Museum. (located at 624 North Broadway)

Home & The Picture Keeper

Last week during Spring Break we kept things nice and low key and just hung out at home. I love the spot that we’re staying in right now–because even just sitting and looking out the front door can be wildly entertaining!

If you’re like me you have a MILLION pictures that you organize into folders on your computer and always *say* that you’re going to back up….but never quite get around to it! That’s why when I got sent The Picture Keeper to try out I had a “this is AMAZING” moment!

It’s a USB drive but it’s set up so that it automatically finds and backs up all the pictures on your computer automatically, no software to install, nothing for you to do but plug it in and click “ok”!

Here’s what it looks like when it’s running, you can keep doing your crazy amount of tabs open Internet browsing in the meantime!

But do you want to know the BEST part about the Picture Keeper? It’s free! That’s right–with any MailPix.com purchase they’ll send you a free Picture Keeper–just pay the shipping on it! How cool is that? As you might remember I LOVED all my MailPix products and I *highly* recommend them! If you haven’t tried them this would be a great excuse to!

The Picture Keeper can hold up to 4,000 pictures but since my camera takes really BIG pictures only 963 fit–but that is nothing to sneeze at! You can go in and delete pictures off of it as well, so that way you can back up your most important ones!

What have you found is the best way to protect and backup your photos? Let me know in the comments!
