Creative uses for Postcards

You might think that postcard printing is just for businesses–but that’s definitely not the case! Although it’s true that postcards are a great way to promote any business–from a big corporation to a small work from home business, there are many other uses as well!

One of these is a high quality birth announcement! This is what Tyler’s looked like and we got it printed on postcards–they turned out beautifully! You can also use them for party invitations, thank you notes, decorations, flashcards for ABCs or numbers–pretty much they are only limited to your imagination!

Rolled Canvas Print *Giveaway*

We have two UPrinting canvases and they are among my *favorite* pieces of art that we own! They do an excellent job of Canvas printing! The first is a stretched canvas of one of my favorite places in the world–Boulder Lake in Wyoming. The next is a gorgeous picture of Bob on a Coast Guard boat. It’s a rolled canvas. I love the way having it printed on canvas made the water and the lights look! I know that you’ll love their canvases as much as we have–and am thrilled to be able to do a giveaway of one!

Rolled Canvas from UPrinting *Giveaway and Review*

***This Giveaway is now CLOSED Congrats to Karen who won***
Out of all of Uprinting’s great products that you can print online, my favorites are hands down their Canvas Prints! I adore the stretched canvas I’ve gotten from them, and the rolled canvas I gave my brother for Christmas turned out great as well!
A rolled canvas would be a wonderful wedding gift or you could just use it to make your favorite picture into a piece of art!
You don’t have to use the canvas to print pictures only though. A piece of customized artwork like the one I made below for my daughter would look gorgeous on canvas, and can be used as a piece of artwork from now when she has a nursery till she’s a teenager or even gets married!
One lucky reader will recieve a 16×20 Rolled Canvas from UPrinting! As an added bonus if you win and you’d like me to create a custom piece of artwork for you (such as the one above but completely customized for you) I will courtesy of my business Artistic Albums By Nicole. Now you have a giveaway that can’t be beat!!!

Kiva.org

By now I’m sure all of you have heard about the horrible destruction and tragedy that’s going on in Haiti right now. When times like this happen it’s always wonderful to see the amazing outpouring of help that people around the world, especially American’s, give. So many companies and organizations are donating a great amount of time, money, and products, and even individuals are reaching out and doing all they can to help.
It’s very sad though, that it takes something so horrific for us to take the focus off ourselves and our country and focus on others. In fact, I think too often as American’s we tend to be totally self absorbed and forget that there are really even other countries in the world. Not really, of course, but the way we live seems to state that. I know that I’m guilty of having that mentality. It seems like we struggle with caring beyond our own friends and families, let along beyond our own country.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about America. I love it with my whole heart and think it is the best place in the world. My husband has given his career and my families’ lifestyle up to serving our country. But we are so very, very incredibly blessed in America and it’s good for us to be reminded of that. It’s good for us to look out into the world and take just a little bit of all we’ve been blessed with and try to in turn bless others.
Kiva.org is a wonderful organization that allows people to reach out and touch the lives of people all around the world. These are hard working, real people who are trying to make a living for themselves and their families. You can even see their pictures and exactly what kind of business they are running and what they’re specifically going to do with the money they receive, so you have the confidence of supporting only something and someone you really want to. There are young moms, business men, people selling produce and textiles, and ranchers. What I really like about this organization is that you’re not giving anyone a free handout; you’re helping people who are trying and working but just need a little help to get on their feet.
How it works is you choose an individual that you would like to make a loan to. Then you donate that amount, and they pay you back over time. Once they’re done you have your principal back (the interest goes to Kiva in order to keep the program running) and you can either take your money back or loan it out all over again. You do take the risk of them not paying you back, but they have a high success rate and when do you not take a risk when you try to help someone? All along you’ll know you’re doing something vitally important, something that is literally life changing for another person.
Pretty nifty right?
Uprinting is hosting a Kiva Blogathon (this is my entry) in order to raise awareness about this wonderful organization. If you’re a blogger and you’d like to partcipate you can go here to find out the details.

My Inspiration for Writing…

My life is filled with inspiration, I’m absolutely surrounded by it, so it’s only natural that it spills into my writing.
My main inspiration is my beautiful daughter. Anyone who’s ever had a child knows what an amazing, life changing miracle it is. She fills my day with sunshine and smiles, with giggles and kisses. I can’t help but gush about her as I write, because for now she is the center of my little world. The entire reason my blog was created was to keep friends and family up on her latest antics.
Writing is in my blood. My Grandma and Mom both worked for a newspaper as writers, my mom got her degree in journalism, and my Grandma is still writing for the Green River Star. It was only natural that some of their talent would filter it’s way down to me and although I’ve never written for a job, my love of writing is now expressed in the form of Ramblings By Nicole.
I’ve always been a “details” person. As a photographer you learn to focus in on the details that surround you that most people might miss. I get inspired on a daily basis by all the beauty that surrounds me, like this gorgeous bird house in my neighbor’s back yard.
I’m continually in a state of shock that over 200 people find my ramblings worth reading. I’m deeply humbled and inspired by each and every one of my readers. If it wasn’t for you there’d be no reason to write!
I could go on and on, but will end with the inspiration I find in my best friend. Best friends for over 10 years, she always knows exactly what to say to keep me going. She calls my blog her “daily cup of coffee”. It helps to have a biggest fan, and to know that even if no one else is caring what I write, she always will!

3 Meal Magic – The Amazing Non-Diet for Emotional Eaters *Review*

When I first signed up to review 3 Meal Magic I somehow got confused and was thinking I was signing up for a book. When I received my copy and realized it was actually an audio track at first I was disappointed. I don’t know why, but for some reason I hate listening to audio books or anything motivational, lol! Since I’d signed up for the review though I went ahead and listened.
I was very pleasantly surprised! Tricia has a very nice voice and many good tips and thoughts. Although I’ve never thought of myself as an emotional eater I most definitely am a grazer, I love my snacks! I’m also terrible about shoveling stuff into my mouth while doing something else, reading, watching tv, blogging… 😉 She brings up many things that are blatantly obvious and yet so many of us fail to do, such as eating 3 square meals a day at a table, while focusing on the meal and actually enjoying it and nothing else. I really enjoyed 3 Meal Magic and plan on implementing many of her suggestions into my daily life! I also love that it’s not a diet. Diets are dumb and don’t work! Not in the long run for certain! Tricia’s approach makes much more sense to maintain a healthy weight for good. My favorite quote from the cd was, “Americans eat until they’re full; people in leaner cultures eat until they are no longer hungry.” How very true!
If you’re looking for a healthy, smart, and feasible approach to losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight, or battling with emotional eating I’d highly recommend this cd! If you’d like to learn more head on over to the website HealYourHunger or Tricia’s blog.
Tricia personally contacted me by email earlier today and asked me to share that she is also offering a Free Teleseries on “Weight Loss from the Inside Out” Here’s the information she sent me on it:
If you’re sick of dieting and have tried to lose weight, with little success, you know it’s not just about diet and exercise. It’s about deeper stuff…stress, hormones, emotions, body image, etc. Heal Your Hunger is hosting a series of 3 conference calls that take place November 4th, 11th and 18th, where the experts will reveal how you can achieve “Weight Loss from the Inside Out”. This is a body, mind and spirit approach to healthy weight loss. (No scales, pills, potions or gimmicks!) Just the honest truth about why you may be having trouble losing weight and what you can do about it. If you miss a call, don’t worry, recordings will be emailed to you the very next day. Remember, it’s free! Register now! Even if you don’t think this event is right for you, click on Register Now so you can get your free jumpstart kit!

I received my copy of 3 Meal Magic – The Amazing Non-Diet for Emotional Eaters thanks to Uprinting and HealYourHunger for this review
