With Amber and Tyler in my life I’m pretty much surrounded by happiness on a daily basis. There is something about the joy and enthusiasm that young children and babies have for life that’s just refreshing! I find myself chuckling daily–sometimes hourly–at their antics, sayings, and funny faces.
One of the wonderful things about happiness is that it is contagious! This year I’ve been making a conscious effort to reach out and spread some of my happiness around to others. One of the main ways that I’ve been doing that lately is by sending the gift cards I get from doing posts like these to families I know of that are in need. I recently sent one to Coupon Mommy of 3 whose 3 year old has cancer, and I have one right now I’m about to send to a Christian family who is expecting their fourth child and the Dad has been out of work. While I know $25 isn’t much, sending it along with a card letting them know I’m thinking about them and praying for them is something I can do. I hope that by getting an act of kindness from a stranger their life will be filled with a little bit of happiness during such hard times!
Another way I’ve tried to spread happiness around lately is by speaking out the (nice!!!) things I normally think. I know anytime someone tells me that I look pretty/great/they like my makeup/what I’m wearing it makes my day. I often think those things about my friends and acquaintances but didn’t used to actually vocalize my thoughts. Lately I’ve been trying to speak the compliments I already am thinking! This can be in person or even by just leaving a sweet comment on Facebook on a recent picture.
My hubby isn’t big on Valentine’s day so instead of doing something for him this year on Valentine’s day today I left a bag of candy Kisses and Hugs on the bed and a heart shaped note that said “Happy Wednesday, I love you!!! XoXoX” It made him smile after a tough week at work!
There are so many ways to reach out to others and spread happiness. Often it’s not the big huge gestures, but just by doing the little things that are within our reach. And I can definitely say that as I try to spread happiness to others, my own happiness level is greatly increased as well!
