Christmastime is by far my favorite time of the year! I love everything involved with it, the food, the songs, and of course the decorations! Even as a little girl I would decorate my own room up with anything my Mom would let me borrow or that I received as gifts. Now some of my “little girl decorations” are among my most treasured–like the tiny navity my parents got me as a little girl so I’d quit playing with their big one!

Along with being one of the most blessed times of year, Chrismastime is often the busiest as well! This can make it hard to keep your home clean and those decorations dusted. Here are a few tips to help keep your holiday shining and bright!

Clean up as you go. It’s always easier to pick up the kitchen and do the dishes while your meal is cooking than it will be to tackle the mounds of gunked up food the next morning!

5 Minutes can make all the difference! Crunched on time? Set the timer for 5 minutes and speed vaccum the middles of 2 of your main rooms. If you have wood or tile floors see if you can speed sweep and hit up just the sticky areas with a mop in this time-just hitting the heavy traffic areas will give the room an instant lift.

Enlist the kiddos Every kid loves to splash in water (or at least mine do!) Fill up a baby bathtub with bubbles (dish soap) on the kitchen floor and a few wooden spoons and encourage them to splash. Place a large old towel underneath to catch the water. After they’re done playing use the towl to wipe up the water, wash off the floor and Volia! Your mopping is done! Hand your preschooler a feather duster and have them hit up the areas with non-breakable objects like the coffee table while you use another one to hit up the decorations. Sing Christmas songs as you go!

With just a little bit of time and work you can keep your home cheery and bright and leave plenty of time for making delicious goodies and watching all your favorite Christmas movies!
