So by now my “cheat night” meals are becoming a bit infamous–pretty soon you all are going to ask if I ever make meals from scratch! (which, I do, I promise!!) I have to admit that nearly many things I make fall into the “semi-homemade” category. It’s just so nice to be able to whip together a quick easy meal, and having part of it being “dump and bake” gives you time to focus on making the other part from scratch and extra special!
So I have a confession to make! Ever since we moved here my Mother-in-Law has been teaching me all of her “bad habits” and she has totally gotten me *hooked* on garage saling. Here in Texas even the really rich people have them–so you can walk away with amazing stuff for pennies–I’m loving it! I especially love looking for glass jars so I can make my DIY Scrubs that I have stacking up on my Beautimous Board and am also loving stocking up on supplies so eventually I can start Getting My Craft On! Yesterday I got up with the Roosters (remember–I’m not a morning person!!) So we could tackle an entire morning of garage sale-ing. We came away victorious but exhausted–so the last thing I wanted to do was cook a huge meal, and since we ate out for lunch that option was out the window too.
I needed to run to Sam’s Club to pick up a few things that we were out of, and while I was there I tried out one of the new Tyson’s Chicken Fries (I love those little sample places they have set up on Fridays!) They were delicious and I knew the kids would love them so I threw together a quick meal and it was such a huge hit I thought I’d share it with you! Oh-and right now Tyson is giving away ticket to Six Flags–so be sure to go check that out and enter to win, I just did!
35 Minute Meal with Secret Ingredient Sauce

- Tyson’s Chicken Fries
- Secret Ingredient Sauce
Make the Secret Ingredient Sauce (recipe below) and set to simmer while preheating the oven. Place the sweet potato fries in first on the top rack then once the timer is down to 15 minutes put the Chicken Fries on the bottom rack. Serve all together hot.
The best job I ever had was working at FMC (a Trona Mine ) as a summer hire in the ELDM Lab. I was the only girl in a plant full of 50 year old guys and they all babied me and treated me like a princess–including cooking for me! The best meal of the summer was a special bbq and the guy passed along his recipe for his secret ingredient sauce at the end of the summer (shhh don’t tell him I shared!)
Secret Ingredient Sauce Recipe
1 Can Tomato Soup
1/2 Bottle Catalina Dressing (hint, that’s the secret! It gives it this amazing, tangy taste!)
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 cup Brown Sugar (adj to taste)
1 Cup Minced Onion (adj to taste)
Put all ingredients together in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Lower temperature and simmer for 30 minutes until thickened.
Serve and enjoy! The kids absolutely LOVED this meal! They both ate it all and Tyler asked for seconds! 🙂
