Work Smarter, Not Harder

Legalese Disclosure Nonsense: In an effort to help me Work Smarter, Not Harder Soft Scrub has provided me with the cleaning supplies mentioned so that I can spend less time cleaning, more time blogging-good deal, right?!

Lately it’s seemed that life has been so super busy it’s to the point where a few things need to come off my plate or I need to figure out how to do things more efficiently! Since I don’t really want to drop anything from my plate at this point Work Smarter, Not Harder has been my motto lately!

For me this means that I’ve been attempting to streamline everything I do from paring down my huge influx of emails (do I *really* need to get Facebook and Twitter notifications in triplicate? I think not) to running errands all at the same time (Thursday mornings means CVS, Walmart, and Brookshires shopping!  In fact the manager at CVS this morning told me, “Good morning, I see you’re in for your weekly couponing!” Haha!)

NEW Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care

In the house I’ve been applying this rule as well-especially to cleaning! While I’ve mentioned that I actually enjoy cleaning the bathroom it’s also the first thing I’d love to hack from my To Do List if something has to go! So somehow I have to mix my busy schedule, not wanting to spend a lot of time on cleaning, and also wanting a super clean house since neither the hubby nor I can stand living in a messy house. Since hiring a cleaning crew is out of the questions (bummer!) I’ve turned to looking for products that make cleaning, as Amber would say, “Easy Bo Breezy.”

Soft Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover

As you know I’m already in love with Soft Scrub products! So I figured that they must make products that would help with my current mission! Sure enough I came across two that seemed to fit the bill perfectly–Soft Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover & Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care.

The Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care I had mixed feelings on. I absolutely loved the ease of just popping it on the side and leaving it there–no scrubbing, yey!!! The price was also great too! The things that  I weren’t crazy about, however, was the fact that it seemed to  get empty really quickly, so quickly that it was gone before I remembered to take a picture of it! (around 2 weeks). Also even though it says that it prevents rings there was a bit of one building up by the time I swapped it out. So overall I loved the ease, but have found that in the tank varieties seem to work a little better.

I knew I needed Soft Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover since down here in Texas the humidity makes mold and mildew sprout up even if you stay on top of scrubbing (ewww!) The gel format was a little different for me to get used to but I like how it really “clings” to the trouble spots so I can spray it on, leave it to do it’s magic, then come back later and wipe it down–easy peasy and takes care of the nasty ick of mold and mildew!

Actually I tried the Scrubbing Bubbles toilet bowl gels that you just stick on and they worked really well! They would last between 2-4 weeks. They smell funny though lol. But now I’m using Kaboom toilet foam and LOOOOOVE it! I spray it in while I clean the rest and it cleans the bowl. All you do is a quick scrub and rinse.

I’ve tried those too–I think it was scrubbing bubbles at least…one of the gel clings! The normal soft scrub spray is awesome and just like Kaboom–you just spray then do a quick rinse, but I’d love one that you didn’t have to do the spray and swish that’s why I had high hopes for these–but I guess sometimes you just gotta swish if it’s the toilet! Haha!

I will trade you whatever chore you despise if you come clean my bathroom 🙂 It’s my least favorite chore. BUT I put some Lime-Away into the tank of the toilet, and it help keep that mold and mildew ring from coming.

Deal! Although I actually hate cleaning *other* people’s bathrooms–(I’ve done it before when I was a counselor at summer camp) but I just don’t mind cleaning my families for some reason! I do hate vacuuming and doing dishes though! And good tip about Lime Away!

The way I work smarter not harder is I spray the cleaning product on and then go clean something else, after the products has worked into the grime, I come back to scrub.

Great tip–sometimes you really just need to let it sit and soak in to really work and make it easy!

to clean your microwave (esp if you have a husband who doesn’t believe in covering anything and lets it pop and boil away) put a big glass measuring up of water in and let it boil then immediately wipe the inside surfaces. Things wipe out super easy as they soften and are no longer hardened dried on

    • Nicole

Yes I’ve used that tip before a lot! And too funny because my Mother-in-Law just bought a microwave cover so we would stop having that problem 🙂
