Since I’m currently helping run the #ThisisStyle campaign for SocialFabric my mind is now turned to all things fashion and beauty more than ever! I find myself looking at people in the school pick up line going, “Oh her outfit is so on trend!” Or, “Wow her makeup is complementing her skin tone and nails perfectly!” It’s too funny!
Because of this being very much “on the brain” I thought it would be lots of fun to bring you a few awesome posts about Looks for the Holiday — I’ll be covering clothes, makeup, and accessories — but today I wanted to start off with Nails! This is a looooong post but hang in there–I want to give you the *whole* story about this product, and remember–there’s a giveaway at the bottom!
Looks for The Holiday ~ Easy Holiday Nails
As I’ve mentioned before I’m a huge fan of pretty nails–but I hate the time and hassle they represent. So basically ever since I’ve had kids I always keep my toe nails painted (or try to–until they totally chip off..yeah….) but my finger nails are always, sadly, naked. The only time I have to do them is during the kids bath time once every couple of weeks (usually I’m working–like, yes right this second while Tyler is in the bath). I’d heard of Jamberry Nail Shields in passing but never much about them. Awhile ago a friend was posting about them on Facebook and saying how great they were and how well they’d held up against her busy mom lifestyle. I was intrigued, especially when she kept talking about how great they still were and posting pictures to prove it.
She loved them so much, in fact, she decided to sign on and become a Jamberry Consultant!
By this time I was very interested, and so when my bestie military wife held her online party I couldn’t wait to join in on the fun and learn a little more. Around this same time Rachel asked if I’d like to do a review & giveaway–so I said (obviously) Of course!!! I was so convinced by all my friends pictures and results that I actually ended up ordering a sheet for myself and bought some for Christmas presents too from Lara’s party!
Even after my purchase, however, I was ever the skeptic and I kept asking my friends, “Ok so these REALLY work? They really last? They don’t chip? They’re not hard? Surly there’s a catch, right?”
So much the skeptic–now that I’m trying them out myself I decided to do 3 Jamberry Wraps on each hand and 2 nails on each hand with 2 coats of my most heavy-duty nail polish with an instant dry topcoat to see what holds up the longest! I’ll be updating you throughout My Party and giveaway to let you see the results!
One big thing I was wondering about was how these wraps worked! Luckily Rachel is an awesome consultant and pointed me to this really easy-peasy application video–that, yes, I brought into the bathroom during kid bath time and watched step-by-step my first time!
My first time I decided to try my toes, while the application is easy I think it gets easier and faster every time you do it as my fingernails actually went much more quickly than my toes did!
I was so happy with how quick and easy it is, even as a first timer! I was able to apply them during the time it took one of the kids to take a bath, and then immediately dived my hands into the water to wash them off, then toweled them off, then went about my business! How did this affect my nails? Well…..
My nailpolish nails smudged as you can see–but my Jamberry’s were rocking it strong! To tell the truth I actually jammed that thumbnail SUPER bad onTyler’s car seat buckle SO bad yesterday and I thought for sure it would split the nail (it still really hurts) but my nail didn’t break and it didn’t even phase my Jamberry on that nail! (which is good because I hadn’t taken these pictures yet, haha!!) I loved the black and silver since it’s very on trend this holiday and matches everything I wear perfectly!
Here is Aspen on my tootsies! As I mentioned I think they were a little bit harder just because my toe nails, while super cute, are a little funky shaped, haha! And it was harder to trim them off since I keep them super short. They still look totally adorable though and I’ve had these one for a week and 1/2 now and they look amazing still! This photo was taken 1 week after application!
A super, super fun thing about Jamberry is that they aren’t just for “big girls” — they’re for little girls too!! Amber absolutely *loves* getting her nails done but her skin is so super sensitive I’ve only ever used the all-natural polishes on her, and they’re notorious for chipping and peeling right away. Not to mention the fact that just getting her to sit still and not smudge the polish was super tricky. She would do it because she loves pretty nails that much–but it was hard on us both, haha!
So when I found out that Jamberry Nails have no nasty chemicals and don’t need any nasty chemicals to be removed, and that they made a line specifically for little girls, I was super excited!
It would be hard to express all of Amber’s feelings about her new Jamberry Junior Zebra & Scribble Hearts so I will just let her tell you for herself!
If you like me on Facebook (which, you do, right?!) You’re very familiar with my Amberisms and Tylerisms. I’ve decided to dub this Amber provided portion of the blog post
While I was getting ready to put them on she told me, “Ok! I know, I know–I have to sit still and not touch them or ANYTHING else!”
After I applied them and started rubbing them she says, “OH! I get it!!! These are *super special* ones that you don’t have to wait to dry! Wow!”
The next day, “Mommy!!! I woke up and my nails are *still here* Are they going to last 20 weeks?!”
Then she was SO excited about her nails when they opened the door for school drop-off she waved her hands around frantically saying, “Look! Look! My nails! They’re Raspberries!!!”
Several days of rough and tough 5 year old kindergarten life and long soaking baths later her nails are still holding on strong!
