It is officially summer now “ya’ll”!!! And here in Texas that mean that although we’ve had some gorgeous cool weather and rain over the past few weeks, come July, August, and September the mercury will keep on rising up, up, up until it hits those triple digits every day–Oy! This combined with the humidity mean that if I just sit here working and tip tap taping on my computer and ordering things from Amazon pretty soon I begin to feel icky sticky!!
And, of course, with my two littles at home full time this summer–it seems I’m able to do less and less sitting! We’re having all kinds of fun out and about in the Texas heat this summer! For example –>
Composting and Recycling
and Gardening and working out!
All of this adds up to a whole lot of sweat! Yuck! So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite tips with you on how we all stay cool–even in the worst of the East Texas Heat!
3 Natural Ways to Beat the Heat
1. Set Yourself Up for Success — use all natural products! The key to taking care of the sweat is to stop it from starting in the first place! You can do easily this by working all natural personal care products into your daily routine. I was introduced to Tom’s Of Maine products from my friends so when I saw that I could purchase Tom’s deodorant from Amazon I hopped right on it (see me ordering it above?! ^^^ I adore online shopping!!!). Thanks to my lovely Amazon Prime membership I only had to wait 2 days for it to arrive at my doorstep! As I purchased it was impressed at just how many Tom’s Of Maine products Amazon had available! As you know, ever since we found out about Amber’s eczema we changed our thinking about synthetic ingredients and fragrances in our personal care products and have gradually been making the switch to brands with only natural ingredients for the whole family.
2. Drink Water with Lemon and Mint & Eat Frozen Fruit
Another great way to beat the heat naturally is to keep your cool with flavored water and frozen fruit! I’ve been addicted to water with lemon and chocolate mint from my garden — yumm! Another current obsession is eating frozen fruit at night to get my sweet tooth fix–but lately we’ve been making all natural “ice cream” using frozen bananas, berries, and watermelon!
3. Play in Water
The last way to naturally beat the heat is to play in the water! No need to head to a chlorine filled pool–splashing in puddles or playing in a baby bathtub are great all natural ways to stay cool right at home!
What are your best tips for staying cool? I’m always looking for new ideas so leave them in my comments!
