Always True by James MacDonald *Review & Giveaway*

Always True: God's 5 Promises for When Life is Hard
***This giveaway is now CLOSED congrats to kendra22 who won***

Often for Christians, as for everyone, life is hard. The beautiful thing about being a Christian is that we do not have to face these times alone! In Always True: God’s 5 Promises for When Life is Hard James MacDonald goes over God’s precious promises to us when our life is crashing down around us. This book was very good and very deep. It’s one that you need to read slowly, a chapter at a time, and really think and meditate on the truths being discussed. This year is a crazy one for my family and proving to be more so all the time and it was a perfect time for me to read this. I especially love how he ties it all up in the end–pointing out that we can’t do any of the book unless we just allow Jesus to do it through us. The way he approached and talked about it helped me think of a new perspective that I never really had before. This was an excellent book and as a cancer survivor everything he writes resonates with truth and real belief. This is a book every Christian should read, if only to be reminded of what and who to turn to in times of trouble!

Money & Marriage by Matt Bell *Review & Giveaway*

Money and Marriage: A Complete Guide for Engaged and Newly Married Couples
So although I am not newly engaged or married (hard to believe it’ll be 6 years for me and hubby in just a few months) I really enjoyed this book! I actually really wish we had both read it and applied it when we first got married. Matt has a ton of really good, common sense applications and practices that any couple and marriage would greatly benefit from. I was actually able to see how we’ve been going about the order of handling our money a bit backwards in some areas and because of that book plan on fixing that and using his recommended order, it makes much more sense! This book was very useful and I think it would be great for any couple, newly engaged or married for awhile!

To see what the rest of the blogging world is saying about this book be sure to check out the Blog Tour Here

The Mountains Bow Down by Sibella Giorello

I really enjoyed reading The Mountains Bow Down! It was another one of those books that I zipped through in a couple of days even though it is 369 pages long! It is a great murder mystery that keeps you guessing and turning the pages to find out what happens next. I love that they mention the Coast Guard in it 😀 though it was weird to hear them called “Coast Guardsmen” instead of Coasties 🙂 I also loved that it was set in Alaska, I’ve never been (but really, REALLY want to someday) but hubby spent a summer in the Ketchican area so it was fun reading about it. I enjoy Raleigh Harmon and all the complicated situations and messes she gets herself into. It was a very enjoyable read! Thanks to Litfuse for providing me with a copy to read!

Five Little Bunnies *Review & Giveaway*

***This giveaway is now CLOSED congrats to itsme who won***

As I’ve mentioned countless times before–we love books in our household! It’s so fun now that Tyler is getting to the age where he enjoys them too, and it’s especially sweet to watch Amber “read” to him! We all love the book Five Little Bunnies! It’s cute, fun, and just the right length to read for Tyler right now. It will also be a great “beginning reading” book for Amber as she starts to learn to read within the next few years. What I really loved about the book was the cd that was included along with it. I’ve also mentioned before that I am not a kids cd/music kind of person. Most of the time I find them insanely annoying and so we just listen to my music all day. I really do love this cd though! It has all the classic, fun kid songs that I remember loving like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “If You’re Happy And You Know It” there are 19 songs plus a read along of the 5 Little Bunnies book. All of them are so cute and I highly highly recommend this book and cd!! Amber adores it and has asked to listen to it every day. We both have fun dancing and wiggling around to it!

One Lucky Winner will Receive their own copy of Five Little Bunnies!

The Life Ready Woman *Review & Giveaway*

The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World
***This Giveaway is now CLOSED Congrats to Atreau who won***

When I first got my copy of The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World I knew that I was going to either really love and agree with what the book had to say–or hate it.
Happily it turned out to be the first! I love the no-nonsense approach the authors take and how they say, “Look, we’re sorry–but you just CAN’T have it all–and you were never meant to at one time.” I got about halfway through the book when I realized that Shaunti (the female author) is the gal who wrote For Women Only: What You Need to Know about the Inner Lives of Men-I love that book and so it’s no surprise I loved this one as well!
I thought it was great that they broke up womens lives into “seasons” and gave specific guidance and direction for each one. I would love to do the study that goes along with this book and have even (strongly, haha) suggested it to my womens’ small group. I would highly recommend this to any woman-I feel that everyone can take away something from it!

So Easy Toddler Food Cookbook *Review*

So Easy Toddler Food: Survival Tips & Simple Receipes for the Toddler Years
I was super excited to get to review So Easy Toddler Food: Survival Tips & Simple Receipes for the Toddler Years ! Amber is super duper picky! In fact it got so bad at one point that she would take one look at whatever I put on her plate for dinner and start crying. Not temper tantrum crying–real, big pitiful tears crying. It was horrible! Between that and her literally gagging on just about every bite I was at my wits end! I knew I wouldn’t be serving her Peanut butter sandwhiches every meal but was at a loss for how to make anything that she would like that didn’t involve cereal, mac n cheese, or PB&J.
Though the one recipe I’ve made so far didn’t meet with much success (probably my bad–it was tuna casserole and I should have figured even if it was “yummified” she still wouldn’t like it, haha) There are lots of great looking recipes in the book (I especially want to try the one for homemade granola!!)
The thing about the book that I have used and loved is the tips it includes at the beginning. The one that has made a difference is telling Amber what is in the food that we’re eating. I make a lot of casseroles and they always posed the biggest problems. Once I started showing her them as I was cooking and breaking it down so she knew what was in it, “See–this is cheese, and bread and chicken.” She realized it was made up of foods that she does, in fact, like!
It’s still a work in progress but we’re getting there! I would recommend this book-it helped me get out of a rut of thinking and provided useful tips!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. A Path Less Traveled *Review*

A Path Less Traveled
You know those books that you get really sucked into and so you stay up way, way, WAY too late reading them??? Yepp, this was one of those books! In fact I stayed up much too late two nights in a row and finished it in just a couple of days, haha. Cathy does a wonderful job of really drawing you into the story and making you get engaged in the characters. I wanted to shake Trish a couple of times in the book and tell her to stop being dumb! I think the fact I was getting mad at her shows that I was pretty invested in the story! I really enjoyed Cathy’s writing and felt that I was able to understand the entire story line even though it’s the second book in the series-it definitely worked well as a “stand alone” book. I would really like to read the rest of the series now! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Christian Romance Novels--it is definitely worth (staying up late) reading!
