In Texas, grilling is an art form and it’s also *everywhere*!!! Whether it’s Rudy’s BBQ or an every other week backyard bash grilling is pretty much a staple of our lives these days. So, naturally, we’ll be cooking out this weekend (pulled pork, yummm) and I wanted you all to be able to get in on the celebration too by having a chance to win the best Father’s Day gift ever!!
Legalese Disclosure Nonsense: In an effort to help me Work Smarter, Not Harder Soft Scrub has provided me with the cleaning supplies mentioned so that I can spend less time cleaning, more time blogging-good deal, right?!
Lately it’s seemed that life has been so super busy it’s to the point where a few things need to come off my plate or I need to figure out how to do things more efficiently! Since I don’t really want to drop anything from my plate at this point Work Smarter, Not Harder has been my motto lately!
For me this means that I’ve been attempting to streamline everything I do from paring down my huge influx of emails (do I *really* need to get Facebook and Twitter notifications in triplicate? I think not) to running errands all at the same time (Thursday mornings means CVS, Walmart, and Brookshires shopping! In fact the manager at CVS this morning told me, “Good morning, I see you’re in for your weekly couponing!” Haha!)
When our expectations of life have a head on collision with the reality of life our faith can get tested to its max. In the book The Gospel Centered Woman Wendy talks about the “prosperity gospel of conservative Christianity” — the notion that if we are living for God, doing His will, and following what the Bible says we’re supposed to do then our lives will go well and we’ll be blessed. I do find that this tends to be the way we thinks as Christians–so how do we respond when we’re serving God and tragedy strikes?
This is the center theme to This Is Our Time which follows the lives of five different students after they graduate from college. Each has great challenges to overcome as they seek what they should be doing and who they should become.
Being a new mom is wonderful, exhilarating, breathtaking. It’s also exhausting, draining, and overwhelming. And you swing through these seeming paradoxes on a moment by moment basis which ads to the crazy of it all even more! That’s why I think that it’s *so* crucial for all new moms to make sure that they don’t let their spiritual walk slide during this time of life–which is just oh SO easy to do! Here are 3 sweet gifts to help Moms feed their spirit when they need it most!
Leagalese Disclosure Nonsense: Woot woot, we’re being given tickets to attend LEGO®Kid Fest 2013, how cool is that? Read on to see how you can come too!
Being super sentimental I still have a ton of the toys that I grew up with. I kept them over the years and now that Amber and Tyler are getting to be old enough to play with them I’ve been gladly opening up the boxes and passing them along.
Hubby has never been as sentimental as me, so he has almost none of his childhood toys left–with one exception. Him and his brother’s biggest love all through the childhood (and way into being teenagers) was playing with LEGO® sets! Their parents still have this HUGE plastic tub filled with thousands of LEGO® Men, Horses, Ships, and Bricks! Recently while she was babysitting for me my Mom in Law hauled it out and let Amber and Tyler go to town! Here is the picture she texted me, haha!
Legalese Disclosure Nonsense: I was provided with the steal your breath gorgeous Origami Owl Locket and gift certificate so that I could bring you this awesomesauce Baby Shower Idea. All pictures, gushing, charm ideas, and cute baby toes are my own.
I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems like every time I turn around another friend is announcing their pregnancy or the birth of their baby. While this makes me totally happy (and distracted–there’s nothing like an album of maternity or newborn pics on FB to totally derail an hour of planned work, haha) it also means that there is a steady flow of baby and baby shower gifts that need buying!
While registries are always a good idea and tiny outfits are hard to resist sometimes it’s nice to break out of the footie pj box and get a new, useful baby gift that will stand out from the crowd–so for the next five days I’ll be bringing you Five Unique Baby Shower Gifts You’re Overlooking!

Since you’ve already discovered all of this I wanted to tell you about my three current favorite toddler bath time products you might not know all about yet but that you’ll definitely want to own!
1. Dial Kids Body and Hair Wash – you might remember how impressed I was with the Dial Coconut Water Body Wash that I recently tried out so when I saw that there was also a new Dial for Kids wash out I couldn’t wait to try it–especially when I saw that there was a formula made especially for kids over 2. The toddler age is usually where the super mild baby products aren’t cutting it, but you don’t want to use full strength products–especially not if your kids have super sensitive skin like mine do!
The peachy clean fresh body wash smells wonderful and since it’s Hypoallergenic & artificial dye free I can even use it on Amber’s eczema prone skin–yey! Anytime I find something that smells good that I can use on my kids I’m all over it! It does a great job as a shampoo on Tyler’s cropped locks-and suds up really nicely as well! (hint–be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post for a chance to win some from me!)
Right now Dial Kids Sweepstakes is going on featuring NEW Dial® Kids Peachy Clean for ages 2+, and Dial® Kids Watery Melon for ages 6+.
2. Waterproof Bath Books are about the coolest things ever. Toddlers are super independent and more than a little bit naughty–so when they get to do something “wrong” (a book in bath tub no no!!!) and it’s actually ok (a special bath time book, yes yes!) it goes over really well! We were given the classic The Rainbow Fish bath book as a gift when Amber was tiny, but there are a huge variety of books to choose from that come in this fun, float-able fashion!
3. Avon Naturals Kids Finger Paints My mom got two of these for the kids at Christmas and they have absolutely *loved* them! I love that they’re all natural so that they don’t irritate the kiddos skin, and their seriously fun and then soap up and rinse off of the tub very easily–even when the kids get it *everywhere* (compared to tub crayons which are fun but can be a pain to clean off). I loved these so much I bought them four more for their Valentine’s Day gift and we’re already almost out again!
These are awesome for learning letters, shapes, and colors for your toddler and Amber uses a paintbrush to really “paint” pictures on the shower walls–you can also mix the colors (blue and red) to create purple and it’s a great way to launch into color combinations with your preschooler!

Although it’s 80 degrees down here in Texas my family in Wyoming just got done dealing with a blizzard and I know all my New England friends are still in winter mode as well! Since I felt bad for “teasing” them all on Facebook with my beautiful Spring blooms pictures I decided to throw a little giveaway to show that having late snow really isn’t all that bad!
The last time I went snowboarding in Wyoming! That’s me on the right! 🙂
Although I don’t get to do it often anymore (boo hoo) I absolutely love to snowboard and ski!
Killington Resort, known as “The Beast of the East,” just announced extended hours of operation for the duration of the 2013 ski season. With Spring on the way, there’s still time to hit the trails for your favorite winter activities while soaking up the sun. To honor longer daylight hours, Killington Resort will be celebrating with five jam-packed weeks of soft snow, live music, ticket discounts, ski competitions, and more. Get your pass and grab a piece of the action, now through the very last day of the season!
Look at how beautiful it is!!! And 2 of my Reader’s Families will get to enjoy it because I’m giving away 2 family sets of lift tickets Tickets that will be held at will-call for the remainder of the 2012-2013 winter/spring ski season!
So we all know how much I love fine jewelry–if I ever become a celebrity you bet I’m going to have some knock your socks off pieces! I actually read Town&Country simply because I love looking at the jewelry in their advertisements!
In the meantime our back to college budget doesn’t quite accommodate those opal and sapphire pieces! That’s why when I found out about Paparazzi I was super excited! A new, fresh company Paparazzi was created to follow the on-trend jewelry fashions and provide it at super affordable prices! For example this past week as I was reading Town&Country I noticed this fabulous necklace (please excuse the cleavage–haha!)
Cool right?! This necklace and pearl drop earring set costs just $5!!! That’s right! In fact ALL of Paparazzi’s pieces are just $5! They don’t have catalogs since everything changes so fast but this is great because it means that you not only have super affordable, on trend jewelry you’ll also have pieces that only a few other people will have–definitely not the case if you’re getting affordable jewelry by shopping in a discount store! I had a friend ask me today while I was wearing this where I buy my jewelry–I was happy to tell her about Paparazzi!
The only problems I’ve had at all is that this very loopy necklace has come apart at the rings a few times. I just used a pair of tweezers to open and close them back on again and haven’t had a problem since. Also their pieces that look metal tend to be plastic–this threw me a little at first as I’m used to wearing all metal jewelry but honestly now that I’ve been wearing the pieces for awhile I think I like the plastic better because for big, dangly earrings (like those in the first picture) all metal and stone earrings hurt my ears but these are feather light so I can rock them all day!
In addition to fabulous earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings Paparazzi also carries a bunch of fabulous girls accessories. I especially fell in love with their hair accessories! Headbands never work on Amber but I love me some girly flower bows and this (yes, just $5) one from Paparazzi is probably one of my all time favorites!!
Just look at how Fluffy-Gorgeous this thing is!!! That’s after being in the mail twice! I love the quality and it stayed put in Amber’s hair even after an entire day of playing-which literally *never* happens with her silky smooth hair! The quality on this is super top notch!
If you’d like to purchase some gorgeous, affordable Paparazzi products for yourself you can find Heather Robinson on her Paparazzi Facebook Page where she keeps an updated inventory of available pieces–(she can take debit and credit cards!) and on her Paparazzi Blog.
One lucky reader will win a $10 + shipping gift card to Paparazzi! (Remember that means you’ll get 2 fabulous items or sets!!)
