As a work from home mom with four jobs, three dogs, two kids, a hubby in college full time–life is *messy*!!! And we’re so pressed for time that staying up on that messy can get really challenging at times. You might think that I just collected a collage of messy photos from my archives (because, hey–I’m the kind of person who does take these kinds of pictures) but nope! Just in the past 2 weeks all three of the disasters shown below have happened and/or been discovered courtesy of one little boy who very much loves dirt and one very shedding Husky!

5 Tips for Easy Holiday Cleaning
Legalese Nonsense: I love BabyGanics so when I got the chance to check out their Grime Fighter I knew it would be a perfect fit for this article and my family! All clever tips, messy homes, and knick knacks are my own & my Mother-in-Laws

1. Clear the Clutter

As you’re digging into boxes of Christmas Decorations and putting away your normal knick-knacks be intentional as you do the swap–will you be excited to be digging these things out again in a month, or are they items that you’re holding onto for who-knows-what-not-good-reason? Give yourself one less thing to do for the New Year by dropping them into your donate box now! Same goes for Christmas items–do you love it? is it bringing a smile to your face as you unpack it? If not drop it in as well–some other family will be thrilled to bring a new-to-them Christmas item into their home this year! Don’t allow yourself to keep things out of guilt–the person bought it for you as a gift to be a blessing, not a burden. Give yourself permission to separate the gift from the giver and know it will be a bigger blessing to someone else!

Top Five Home Schooling Questions Answered

Today I’m writing a post that has been in my mind and heart for years. It never quite seemed the right time to write it, so it’s always just kind of bounced around in there waiting. I feel strongly that this is the right time, however, so here it is!

This will actually be a two-part post because it would have been far too long to put into one post. Actually, this post is suuuuper long as well but I have been asked these questions so often throughout the years I was home schooled and even up until just a few weeks ago, that I feel they really deserved thoughtful and thorough answers.

So today I’m going to talk about My Experience With Being Homeschooled & Why I Loved It and later I’m going to follow up with a look into my views on if homeschool is the right option for everyone, all the time, and why my thoughts on this topic have radically changed. So be sure to read both!

What Makes Me Smile

What Makes Me Smile
Legalese Nonsense: Because I love to smile so much it’s important that I keep my #FABsmile beautiful! Thanks to FlossandBrush.com & the Mom It Forward Blogger Network I now have a subscription that will keep me and my entire families smiles looking great & healthy!

What Makes Me Smile

It’s no secret that I love to smile! My whole life I’ve been grinning about something, it seems! Our recent vacation in Wyoming gave me even more to smile about than I usually have. One of the big reasons I was smiling up there was that my newest nephew was born during my visit! My brother has two other children, however, because we live so far away I didn’t get to see either one of them till they were both almost 1 year old and I felt like I’d missed all of their being a baby. So it was super special and precious to be able to visit little baby Titus in the hospital and hold him when he was not even 1 day old yet! It had both me and Amber grinning ear to ear! Since he arrived early I got to see him several times during our visit, and I was actually the one who stayed with his big brother and sister while he was being born–another super special experience and memory to have!

How to Ditch the Massive DVD Clutter ~ Organizing in Small Spaces

How to Organize DVDs

Have you re-pinned my main Organizing in Small Spaces post yet? If not go ahead and do that now–no really. I’ll wait. Each week I do a post I go back in and link to it in that post–so if you pin it you’ll have all my posts in one easy location! If you’re not following me already on Pinterest be sure to do that while you’re there too!

As you know my hubby and I love watching movies and shows together! Because of this we have a decent sized movie collection. During our many moves with the Coast Guard we decided that we needed an easy way to organize our DVDs and take them with us each move. (sadly we heard many horror stories about stolen DVDs when packers were responsible for them!) We came up with a solution that worked so well we never moved away from it even when we weren’t in transit. I love how uncluttered and portable our collection is now! Want to know our secret? When you see it you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it all along!

Doing the Dirty Dishes

Cascade Platinum Dirty Dishes
Legalese Disclosure Nonsense: Knowing that I have a ton of dirty dishes I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

It’s no secret that I love to bake and I cook a sit-down family dinner almost daily. What is a secret, however, is that I absolutely hate doing dishes! In fact–I basically refuse to hand wash dishes–it’s my least favorite chore! That means that I only buy dishes marked “dishwasher safe” and that my dish detergent pulls triple duty and has to tackle nasty pots and pans and heaps of dishes.

How To Organize & De-clutter Your Closet in One Minute a Day

I mentioned recently that my motto right now is “work smarter, not harder”. This means that I try to organize and clean as quickly and efficiently as possible so I have more time to do other things–like work, spend time with family, and squeeze in some “me time” in there somewhere!
